I had the *worst* morning sickness with my son. Lasted until around the 7 months mark? I lost 20 pounds in my first trimester alone because I spent all day throwing up.

Zero morning sickness with my son, but that’s my only pregnancy so far 🤷‍♀️

I think all that boy girl stuff is a myth. I had hyperemesis which is all day morning sickness. I was throwing up that many times and more and I have a girl. I was doing that for 9 months it didn’t go way 😩

Avatar

Yes I did for a short period when pregnant with my little boy. It also wasn’t just in the morning it lasted throughout the day, it was more horrendous nausea more than anything

Avatar

I had HG with both my boys, like couldn’t keep anything down, hospitalised, could barely move, was wrapped in just a sheet slowly dying on the couch in between IVs - would throw up bile and violently dry heave when I was empty. It lasted from about 4-12wks with both. I’m currently almost 19wks pregnant (unsure on gender at the moment) but it slipped past until 11wks, didn’t have any nausea or vomiting etc. so curious to know 🤷🏻‍♀️

Avatar

oh wow I haven’t meant someone that experienced Hg.

I had morning sickness from 4am until 9am every day like clockwork until 18 weeks. It was to the point I had to change my start time at work. I had 4 days of nothing then extreme heartburn and had to be put on prescription meds.

I had sickness from week 6 to week 17 with our son. I was sick every morning without fail and felt dreadful all day. This time I've felt sick for a similar duration but not actually been sick. Yet to find out if we're having a boy or girl!

Avatar

you had HG whilst postpartum? *NEW FEAR UNLOCKED*

Avatar

I had HG with my boy, like couldn’t keep anything down,, used to vomit 8-9 times a day, was on bed most of the time with regular IVs and round the clock medication. It lasted till my 7th month. I am amazed how I survived with so little food. Some probably got absorbed before it came out.

I lost 20 pounds.
I don’t think gender has to do anything with it though.

I had slight nauseau only while pregnant with my son. My poor friend also pregnant with a boy had it terrible nearly all the way through her pregnancy. She has 4 boys and 2 she had sickness with and 2 were absolutely fine

Zero morning sickness with my daughter 🙏🏽

Morning sickness with my son up til 20 weeks couldn’t eat ANYTHING losing weight vomiting numerous times a day! 😅

My pregnancies were completely opposite in every aspect

Avatar

Yes I had horrific morning sickness with my boy

Avatar

I felt really sick when pregnant with my son from around 6 weeks to 16-18 weeks, if I recall correctly. I never actually threw up though

Avatar

2 boys, sickness from 9-25weeks and then again from 35weeks both times…personally think it’s luck of the draw

Avatar

Had exactly the same pattern of morning sickness with my boy and my girl - sick morning, noon and night from 5.5 weeks until 17 weeks!

Avatar

I had morning sickness all the way through my pregnancy with my little boy

Avatar

I had HG with my boy it was brutal but my sister wasn’t sick with either of her boys. I think it’s all abit of a myth personally 🤷🏽‍♀️

Avatar

I was really sick with my little boy and it lasted until about 25 weeks, and i was medicated for it in the end.

I found chewing airwaves chewing gum helped subside the nausea xx

Avatar

I’ve had 2 boys, first time I felt sick until around 16 weeks but wasn’t actually vomiting.
Second time I was physically vomiting every single day until 19/20 weeks.

Avatar

I had severe HG with all 6 of My Pregnancies. It finally subsided around the end of my 3rd month going into 4 months.

Avatar

yes really bad. for the whole duration

Avatar

With my first son, a little bit but not severe. Then with my second son, SEVERE 😭 I’m due in December with baby #2.

Avatar

Yeah I don’t think gender has anything to do with it. Some women get hg and it goes away at 15-20 weeks . And some have it the whole pregnancy like I did .

Avatar

I am pregnant with a boy and the first trimester has been rough. The worst weeks were 6-9 I was throwing up daily.
I really thought I was having a girl. Now, at 12 weeks I feel great in the mornings. However, the late afternoons and nights is when I get very nauseous and just feel like shit tbh lol

Avatar

Yes! But I didn’t get morning sickness until my second trimester & it lasted up until he was born 😩

Avatar

Had morning sickness my entire pregnancy with my son. Lost about 40lbs by second trimester due to not being able to eat or keep anything down. Thankfully I was prescribed diclectin and it really helped, and I was at my prepregnancy weight when kiddo was born

Avatar

same I lost 30 pounds I had the Zofran pump tho it last entire pregnancy. I didn’t get any stretch marks I only gained 15 pounds from my starting weight. I didn’t gain it all back . She still was 7 pounds tho. Picking myself in the tummy was so hard to do everyday

Small head reported following 20 week scan

Has anyone else had it flagged that their baby is in the bottom 5th percentile for head size?

They said everything was fine whilst we were in the scan and then I got a phone call the next day saying that it’s on the small side and we’re being referred to a paediatric specialist at St George’s. Has anyone else had this and how did things go??

Would you bring 9 week old to a family party of 35+ people?

These are also people who will want to pass the baby around and get a turn to hold him. He just got his 2 month shots two days ago

Exercise 6 weeks after c section

What movement did people start to introduce? I won’t do anything too vigorous until I’ve seen the pelvic physio as I don’t want to compromise anything that may have been extremely weakened through pregnancy! But just wondering what types of classes/movement people started off with?

Induction experience

I just wanted to share my experience with being induced as I wasn’t sure what to expect and thought it may help others.

I opted for the foley balloon which was inserted at 8am Saturday morning, I had to stay in hospital due to hypertension and protein urine however usually you can just go home once this has been done. The insertion of the balloon was not painful, was slightly uncomfortable as there was slight pressure. I actually found having the cervix checked prior to be worse (again not painful at this point just uncomfortable) The balloon had little effect and after having it removed I was still only 1cm. Removal also was pain free and hardly even noticeable.

I then had my first dose of the gel and definitely noticed a difference, I started experiencing period like cramps almost immediately however they were light and manageable. After 6 hours I had another cervix check and although my cervix was soft it was still only 1cm and was only open at the front. I had another dose of the gel and felt an increase in pressure and more intense cramping where I now required pain relief (codeine). After another 6 hours I had another cervix check and I had now dilated to 2-3cm however was still quite difficult to get all the way through so a third gel was recommended which I agreed to.

Almost immediately I noticed the difference and was in considerable pain, I had paracetamol and codeine however the contractions had now become intense and a lot closer together (around 3 minutes apart). After a couple of hours I had my last cervix check and was 4cm and taken down to the Labour ward to have my waters broken and an epidural.

I had been in my room for approx 20minutes when my waters broke by themselves and I was now 10cm and actively pushing…. There was no time for the epidural and my beautiful girl arrived into the world within 2 minutes of pushing.

All in all I would say the cramps/contractions were manageable up until the third gel where it became pretty unbearable however it was for a very short time a gas and air helped take the edge off. The worst part about any of it was actually the later cervix checks where after stimulating the cervix my contractions were at their most painful.

If I had to be induced again I would skip the balloon and opt for the gels immediately as thy had a quicker effect and I would have been out a lot sooner if I had done this to begin with.

One more thing, I’ve never believed when people say “you forget the pain once they’re here” but I can honestly say this is true. It’s been 4 days and I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
