Is your toddler in a rear facing car seat still, and if so when do you plan to change them to a front facing?

when they max out the height or weight requirement for rear facing, whichever comes first. That’s the safest recommendation. kids are bendy so they may look uncomfy but they aren’t! Their bones aren’t fully formed and stronger until around 4, so the risk of internal decapitation is higher in forward facing kids under 4

Yeah, I’ve seen the research as well! But my mother in law gave us a front facing car seat and had him sitting front facing for months and I didn’t even know. My son has grown out of the car seat he has now, so I’m looking for a new one now.

if you could I would stick with a rear facing seat since your little isn’t even 2 yet, that’s the safest option! The have quite a few options that are extended fit like the graco ones that can fit 40-50 lbs rear facing and they can switch to forward facing after they reach that point.

graco car seat, gotcha thank you mama 💕. Do you know if the safety 1st car seats are rear facing? They say they are but I’m not sure how that makes sense, that’s the one we were given.

@Javacia I have a convertible seat in each vehicle, one graco and one safety 1st. I currently have the safety 1st one installed forward facing due to my vehicle being made in 2001 and not having the latch system so the seat doesn't install properly rear facing. The graco seat is a snuglock and I need to put it in the older vehicle as I can get it properly installed rear facing. If the seat can face rear, forward, or both depends on the model

We have a Graco Tri Ride and won’t forward face until my daughter weighs 40lbs, regardless of her height.

@Javacia I believe this is the same seat and it also rear faces. Also please talk to grandma to make sure the chest clip is inline with his armpits and the straps should be at or slightly above his shoulders (forward facing) and at or below the shoulders (rear facing), lower the headrest 1-2 clicks to fix the strap position.

thank you so much, I’ll try to install it tomorrow and see if I can figure it out. Ohh grandma and I don’t talk anymore so, that won’t be a problem but thank you for the heads up💕

@Javacia you're welcome and don't hesitate to reach out if you need help installing it. There will be a belt path that goes under the seat for forward facing and another through the back for rear facing. Once installed properly the seat won't move more than an inch when pushed/pulled on in any direction

I’ll definitely probably need help, so I’ll let you know for sure.

@Javacia they're not as complicated as they look and the directions should be printed on the side of the seat as well but I'll be here if you have any questions.

Well be switching once she hits the maximum height and/or weight. Which will likely be before im comfortable doing it, but her safety comes before my comfort.
