I was seriously debating it but a bit like Siobhan said I saw the statistics for first time mums and as I’m already getting a bit anxious thought best to just go to Singleton. It does look really lovely and the fact you can have your partner stay over with you is an added bonus if that’s something you want that you can’t otherwise have at the hospital. Do whatever you feel most comfortable with though 💖
So hard I had a friend that gave birth there a few year ago before it shut and she got blue lighted to Bridgend, but she lived in neath, not sure how it works, if they just send you were they have a bed or where’s closer! Thought of Bridgend puts me off as well. And like you said the hassle of the motorway and rush hour 🙃 I was induced first time if I’m induced again don’t want to get my hopes up on this lovely delivery unit and be disappointed. Such a hard decision isn’t it xxx
Had my sga baby 4 weeks ago. 2nd baby and 2nd small baby. I was too paranoid to use it first pregnancy and i didnt get to use it this time due to baby having to stay in for a night and ended up being induced anyway.. Ive heard so many good stories about the place. Obviously things might not go to plan but the decision just depends on how your pregnancy is going. My first i had growth scans and she was born 41 weeks 6lb6. Current newborn also had growth scans and they wanted to induce early but I refused. At first they told me i couldnt go to the birth centre because of the risks with small babies, midwife said it was fine for babies 10th centile and over. But mine ended up being 8th centile. Was born 39+5 6lb completely healthy. I wouldve gone there if i had no complications. 2nd babies tend to be a little easier delivery too x
I had my heart set on going to Neath Port Talbot hospital and I’m from Swansea, but after being induced they told me not to bother going, but all the midwives in Neath are lovely and the birth centre there looks so much better than Singleton Hospital x
I’m from Swansea and I was thinking about it, but when I saw how high the chance is for first time mothers having to get blue lighted to singleton from NPT it’s put me off. I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things about NPT though and if travelling extra on the motorway doesn’t bother you, I’d definitely consider it. But I live 5 minutes from Singleton so I think it would be daft for me to go all of that extra way, especially when you could go into labour in rush hour and then be stuck on the motorway for an hour!
