I was taking natures bounty prenatal with choline . It helps with brain development and neurological development. My daughter is healthy and strong because of them . It comes in pill or gummy form I did the gummies but had to switch to pills because I had gestational diabetes. 😊🫶🏽

I’ve been taking Pregnacare Plus. They help with the development of the eyes and brain and you get in them your daily dose of Folic Acid!
They are around £10-12 a box depending on where you shop but I’ll always pick them up in Superdrug as they’re always on 3 for 2. They’ve been great right from the day I found out which I was about 8 weeks when I did and have taken them every day with no issues at all either! Midwife is happy and have approved them too and said they are great to take all the way through your pregnancy.
The pregnacare range is definitely worth looking at as they do lots for after pregnancy too!
Might also be worth speaking to your midwife though and asking her before buying any supplements as she could recommend good ones for you too!

I've been taking proceive my entire pregnancy and would highly rate them but they are expensive. I saw a post about pregnacare and how they contain a tonne of ingredients that just are not needed and contain no nutritional benefit and that massively put me off taking them!

Pregnacare all the way!

Pregnacare always

I've been taking Proceive since conception! They have the best variety and quality! But it's pretty expensive

Pregnacare aren’t good quality unfortunately. They contain nutrients in their least bio-available form (they basically turn into expensive pee).
Wild nutrition are definitely a better choice.

@Hannah I second that. Proceive are amazing, I've had a surgery that depleats my nutrients and my pregnancy nutritionist got me on them, bloods have been spot on since too x 😊🙏🏻

I agree with Hannah, proceive is a good brand. I used their breastfeeding vitamins too. I get mine from Holland and Barret.

My midwife told me any pregnancy supplements all are pretty much the same and all are good enough, I have been taking pregnacare but she told me even cheap supermarket ones are fine x

Thanks everyone! ❤️

seeking health prenatal essentials plus Nordic naturals ultimate omega and pure encapsulation magnesium glycinate

can you post the link of which ones you take? Please

I’ve been using WILD since I was told I had low PAP A at 12 weeks, baby is perfectly fine and has grown as normal so I do feel the more premium vitamins helped me and would recommend them. I will continue to take them post part as well - Holland and Barrett have them on offer which is worth checking

I am sorry that’s such bad advice. If you read and compare ingredients you’ll soon find out that cheap supermarket supplements contain synthetic non bio-available nutrients, fillers, binders and excipients. The doses are also usually too low and not clinically researched amounts for pregnancy. Unfortunately you do get what you pay for 😞

yes to all of these x

thank you

how many per day?

my personal opinion is that some people dont take any atall and so taking a basic pregnancy supplement ( cheap unbranded if that is all you can afford ) is better than not taking any.

i would argue that eating a healthy diet during pregnancy might be even more important x

agreed but she was asking about supplements, people shouldnt feel pressure to spend money on a certain brand of supplements that they cannot really afford so I was just pointing out my midwife told me you could just buy supermarket own cheap supplements and they would still be fine x

I would argue that if you can't afford a good quality supplement then heavily focus on getting the necessary nutrients from food. Poor quality vitamins can be ineffective and/or contain contaminants which would do more harm than good. So for instance, an expectant mother may think she is getting enough folate but the supplement she takes is getting poorly absorbed within her body and/or contains heavy metals. This would do more damage in my opinion. Supplements are there for convenience which not everyone can afford. Changing one's diet is a solution. It's possible to get enough folate by eating eggs, vegetables, legumes, nuts, etc. Some of these food items are not pricey (for instance, eggs, lentils, chickpeas, mushrooms to name a few).

fair enough I was just saying people might be better off eating a healthy varied diet than taking poor quality supplements that offer a false sense of safety (people might think they don’t need to bother eating a healthy diet as they’re taking a supplement that will cover for any nutritional deficiency and this may not be true especially if they are of poor quality) x
