How much colostrum to harvest

Hello 😊 just wondering how much is enough colostrum to harvest and take to the hospital? I’ve got 12ml so far and have been on and off pumping since 36 weeks im now 38+5. I know I will have colostrum ready in my boobs once baby is born but just incase I am unable to feed straight away I would like my partner to give baby colostrum to avoid formula if possible. Thank you 😊

I’m taking 10 on the hopes that nothing stops me from being able to breast feed straight away. But the 10 is just in case I’m delayed for whatever reason. I still want a decent supply at home for just in case purposes (ie. If/when baby gets sick in the next 6 months). Absolute worst case scenario, my partner can go home and get some more if I’m in the hospital for any longer - I just really don’t want to lose/forget any in the hospital!

Newborn tummies are only 1ml in size on day one anyone, so I figure I’m taking a couple of days worth, and after a couple of days I’ll either be home or breast feeding!

Yes, I’m also concerned incase they fully defrost before I can use them and they go to waste!

From what I’ve read on the NHS website it says that a newborn should feed 8-12 times every 2-3 hours and baby will need between 5-7ml of colostrum. But like you said worst case scenario I can send my partner to get some more !!

mine does fluctuate Charlotte !! Sometimes I’ve got 1.7ml other times 0.5 etc but over all I’ve got 12ml roughly over around 10 pumping sessions. Have you tried a pump ?? I know some people find it controversial but it’s been working for me. Also a hot water bottle on my boobies before for 5 or so minutes has really helped !x

Harvest as much as you can,!!! it helps so much in the first few days - we took about 40ml to the hospital and used it all in just one night stay and after we got home we’re used the rest in our freezer in the first couple days / my husband was able to feed him with it so I could get more sleep

Wdy think of this for a toddler to learn word construction?

Do men really enjoy fellatio?

Been together more than 10 years, but it's been a while since he even seemed remotely interested in me getting on my knees, or vice versa so to speak. I think it was once last year. Must be something I am doing wrong 🤔. Generally everything else in that department is great and we have two young kids with no extra support, so it's quite surprising we can't keep our hands off each other but may need to try new things. It's basically 2 positions each time with some foreplay.

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Naps

How is everyone doing for naps?

Little one is 9 months old and will have 2 half hour naps and one solid 1 hour - 2 hour nap a day

Then settles for night around 9pm. Wakes for a feed around 3:30 then sleeps until 6-7

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

Pumping advise

FTM to a 2 week old! I’m breastfeeding and then giving one formula bottle last in the evening before bed. I want to start expressing milk to give me some breathing room and also allow my partner to be more involved in feeding. I’m finding the idea of introducing pumping into my day quite overwhelming though. I don’t want to take milk away from my baby by pumping if he needs it during the day when being breastfeed.

Can anyone advise how I start pumping and when to do it? Thank you!
