Private Room at St George’s Hospital

I am due to give birth at St George’s hospital in tooting. I am just wondering if it is possible to pay for a private room at this hospital? Has anyone done that before?

If there available at the time or you can call to enquire I know my friend booked hers as they wanted a side room .

Although I've just noticed that says 1st floor and is on the 4th floor, sure that's just an error.

I think all rooms are private for birth (labour ward 1st floor) but deffo check about post partum (4th floor) because i was on a ward with 3 other families. I didn’t think about the private room at the time - I wish I had!, I think if you give birth in the birth centre you have a private room PP

I don't know of a single hospital in the UK where labour ward rooms are shared. Very normal for post natal wards to be 4-8 beds. But not during labour.

Call the private patient office and ask if it's a possibility in maternity

I was given a room to myself because of my allergies

The labour rooms for my hospital were private although induction room was shared. The psjynpartum wards had a few women per ward but I had a single room for myself as I have allergies which make it hard for me to share rooms. It actually gave me a lot less space and I would have preferred to share

delivery suite is on the 1st floor, gwillim ward (post natal) and the carmen suite (birth centre) is on the 4th floor. It can be a-bit confusing sometimes!

My midwife told me last week that most hospitals have private rooms you can pay to stay in after giving birth. However this depends on how many patients there are and if there is any availability. You might want to call up and enquire but unless you're having a planned csection, you might not be able to book something in advance.

@Amy-Jo Oh how confusing! From the video on their website it looks like it's all on the 4th floor 🤣 I'll have to ask for a tour when I'm next there, don't need to be stressing about where to go when the time comes haha!

Help

I was getting pretty painful period cramps and during those, I had painful lower back cramps. I had these on and off for like a few hours so from about 10:30pm to 1am?

I’ve had no show, or anything like that.

Is this braxton hicks or early labour pains?

Little girl turning herself sideways in next to me

My little girl tonight, has spun herself so she is lying sideways in her next to me, making me panic!

Is this normal at 4.5 months, do I just lie her back normally/vertically?

Labour??

I’ve had on/off mild period cramps since 9 last night, very irregular and very mild, but I just had one that woke me up. My waters haven’t gone and nor has my mucous plug… but could this be a sign that it’s close?! I’m 40+3 and desperate to meet her!

Caffeine addiction suuucks. (Coffee)

I'm off of literally everything. Don't smoke, no medicine, don't drink except VERY rare occasion, nothing. I drink a large coffee everyday (usually mcdonalds or 7 brew)... or a couple cups of coffee at home if I don't get out. Today I had neither and I was OUT FOR THE COUNT. Awful headache, no motivation, throwing up. Then I drink coffee and it's instantly better. 🙃 coffee is one hell of a drug I tell ya.
