Are babies weight estimates accurate?

I am currently 39+2 and was referred for a growth scan 3 days ago for “reduced growth” by my community midwife. At the scan we found out that actually he had had a growth spurt and now I have been referred for induction talks, as they are concerned baby is “too big for me”. He was showing as 8lb 4oz at 39 weeks exactly, and I just wanted to know were people’s last measurements / weight predictions accurate when their babies were born? Or did they tend to be smaller / larger?

Thank you!

Smaller they said she was about 4lbs9oz In fact she was 4lbs4oz

Absolutely not, had a growth scan for the same and he came out over 8lbs

No they aren’t accurate. They told me my baby would be 8lb and she ended up being 6lb close to 7

My baby was estimated at 8lb 13 at 39+6, she arrived one week later at 9lb 9oz 😅

Went for a growth scan at 36+5 and she was estimated at 6lbs 8, she was born via induction at 38 weeks exactly at 6lbs 15

You can have the induction booked if that’s what you decide but on the day it’s up to you if you want to turn up or not they won’t hold it against u

Hey lovely! I have had both happen, with my first baby they were worried she was really big and I had an extra scan at 39 weeks (can't remember what her estimate was) but she came exactly 2 weeks late and weighed 8lbs 6 and then my 2nd they were worried he was small and gave me like 4 extra scans in the last few weeks and then he weighed 9lbs at 2 weeks overdue too! So I tend to take them with a pinch of salt!! I've had so many friends who've been told they're going to be big or small and then they're absolutely fine. I personally would try to avoid induction at all costs as they tend to lead to more interventions. I ended up being induced with my 1st and ended up with all sorts of interventions and forceps. But baby no 2 I didn't and I did it without anything. Good luck and trust your instincts! Xx

Mine was estimated to be 4lb 3 and he was born a week later (at 36w) weighing 6lb 6 and a half ozs!!!

My youngest was estimated to be over 8lb at 36w and she was born at 37w weighing 7lb 2ozs

At 36wks baby was estimated as 8lb2oz, she arrived 40+2 as 7lb15oz. Always take it with a pinch of salt. Good luck! X

No I had growth scan every week from 35 , told me my baby wouldn’t be bigger than 5 pounds , he was born 4 days early wearing 7.8 so I wouldn’t worry

Not 100% accurate I was told my daughter by time of birth could weight up to 8.5/9lbs she come out at a perfect healthy weight for a girl at 7lbs. I have 2 growth scans due to being ‘over the average’ after 28 weeks.
I was told I was going to have my inducement at 39 weeks. I went into labour naturally and she was born 38 weeks a week before my induce date.

With my daughter midwife said over 8lb and she was 6lb 8oz born. Son was measuring big and he was born 7lb 11oz so I wouldn’t worry about size of baby.

I had growth scans throughout my first pregnancy due to a small bump, but she turned out to be 8 pounds 13, so wasn’t small after all 😂

Thank you so much everyone this is really helpful, and reassuring! 🤍

All of mine were accurate, my last baby they said he would be about 9lb6 at term and he was 8lb8 at 38+4. I was all baby with all three though, some women carry differently which makes it harder to get accurate measurements of baby x

I had a c section due to them telling me my baby was too big. He was 2lbs smaller than they predicted.

Pregnancy after c section

What time scale did everyone get pregnant again after a c section?
I know the doc said they recommend eating at least a year to 18 months but it took 4 years to get pregnant the first time after being told we could not conceive naturally so not wanting to stop it happening knowing it could take a very long time again but also worried.

Braxton hicks

I’m currently 34 weeks and have been experiencing braxton hicks for the past few weeks however have been having cramps almost like very strong period cramps In my lower stomach. I’ve mentioned this to my midwife and she only really asked if I’d been keeping hydrated and taking my vitamins which I am but didn’t really proceed to tell me if this was normal or related to braxton hicks also, has anyone else experienced this?

Help

I was getting pretty painful period cramps and during those, I had painful lower back cramps. I had these on and off for like a few hours so from about 10:30pm to 1am?

I’ve had no show, or anything like that.

Is this braxton hicks or early labour pains?

Little girl turning herself sideways in next to me

My little girl tonight, has spun herself so she is lying sideways in her next to me, making me panic!

Is this normal at 4.5 months, do I just lie her back normally/vertically?
