Contraception after section

I'm having my appointment with the obstetrics team soon to discuss my elective section. I've been reading up about people having coils fitted during the procedure, is this something anyone has had done? I'm 100% certain this is our final baby and I'm not keen on going back on the pill for contraception. If I discuss this with the consultant can they fit the coil whilst immediately after the C-section?

Had it fitted AT section.
Had it removed 6 months later due to the bleeding I encountered.

This is definitely an option. I was offered it during my section but got them to cut my tubes instead.

I didn’t have the coil but did have the implant inserted in the hospital

Yes I had it fitted during my section few weeks ago but they did say my Gp has to check it isn’t dislodged during my 6-8 weeks review. It’s a possibility as the uterus shrinks back

I’ve had 2 mirena coils for a total of 8 years before having it removed to conceive. Wanted another after babba but derby don’t do it during c sections.

I’m now on the pill as although I loved the mirena the insertion (both times) was the most painful experience of my life! Worst than my c section recovery by far even though it’s quick!

Supposed to be far less painful after having a baby but only if your cervix has dilated (so no way of knowing with an elective c section if mine had or not)

So I wimped out and went on the pill

Would genuinely have another c section tomorrow but couldn’t face another could insertion (even though it’s by far the best contraception I’ve ever been on)

So if you can get it done during your section definitely go for it - Derby told me they don’t due to risk of infection and expulsion as uterus contracts back to normal 🙄 I would have taken the risk if they’d let me

Not enjoying being back on the pill - hormones and skin issues like a 15 year old again 😂

good luck!! Honestly it was the best contraception I’ve ever had and would have it again in a heartbeat if it wasn’t excruciating 😭 other than the first month or so where you can have spotting on and off I barely had a period for 8 years! Other than spotting every couple of months. I seriously miss it but like I said having it inserted was horrific so unless they can offer me some anaesthesia I can’t face it

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!

Owlet

Anyone else’s owlet pi##ing them off ?!?! It goes off 5/6 a night saying it can’t get a reading and needs a snug fit. My baby is 8 months old so moves a lot. It is driving me insane and I keep end up taking it off!!
