Talking

Is it normal that my little one still isnt using a whole lot of full sentences? He knows all kinds of words but wont put them in sentences besides like “I love you” im ready” “all done” and if he does try to form a sentence I can’t understand what he is saying.😕 Just wondering if its something I should bring up to our pediatrician or not!

I would bring it up, my girl is using full sentences, telling stories she makes up, full conversations.

I would bring it up but also don’t be too concerned yet. All kids are different and their milestones are hit at different times

Is he an only child? I noticed with my oldest that it took him a bit longer to form sentences and words sometimes. He was an only child at the time. With my second, it’s a whole different story. Since her brother is now seven and talks a lot, and she is two, she picks up many words and sentences from him.

@Generra he will be 3 on april 19th! Im wondering if its just speech therapy that he might need! He knows his abcs can count to 20 and he knows alot of words just isnt wanting to form long sentences yet

@Wendy he isnt but he is the oldest his younger brother is almost two and ive noticed he has caught on to words quicker. So that would make sense!

@Wendy they also dont go to daycare. I stay home with them so have wondered if that could be some of it. He is starting preschool part time this fall!

My son also didn’t go to daycare—I was a stay-at-home mom too. Even though we did some learning at home, it was still the same. We also had friends who came over everyday. Now, he talks nonstop and speaks so well! Doesn’t hurt to bring it up to your peds if you are worry.

Now my daughter who is two, she talks so well and we see that she picks up a lot of it from her brother. 😆

@Wendy this makes me feel better! Yes we do alot of learner at home too and he knows so many words just cant get him to use them in sentences! I will probably bring it up at our next appointment!

@Morgan does she go to daycare? I know they say that can help! Also my pediatrician told me girls tend to learn faster than boys🤷🏽‍♀️

@Generra this makes me feel better! I will definitely bring up speech therapy at our next appointment!

Yes, she also goes to daycare

Yes! My son goes to daycare but he still isn’t speaking in full sentences. I’ll be bringing this up to his pediatrician at his next visit. His teacher said she would use the word “delay” necessarily but he might benefit from occupational therapy. Fingers crossed!
