Leaky nappies

My little one is 9 days old and was 6lb 14 when born. We have been using aldi size 1 nappies and he keeps leaking almost every change covering his clothes in wee. It’s always up the same one side too. We bought some pampers size 0 thinking they were too big and the same thing is happening! We are first time parents so quite aware that we could be doing something wrong, but we are putting them on tightly and making sure they aren’t rolling down at the back when we pull his vest over - any ideas?!

Try different brands ad it definitely could be the brand. The other thing is that sometimes when leaking it actually means they need to size up so you could size up and see if that works

My daughter was pretty spot on for leaks and having to size up. Only time we had to change was when we went from nappies to pull ups and the brand we used just didn't cut it. X

We’re going through the same thing now even though my little one is 6 months old. We’ve been recommended by everyone, quite literally to try a size up!

Believe it or not, the nappy needs to LOOK like it’s big on them to be doing the right job I’d say !!x

thank you I did think that but he is still so small and only 9 days old I can’t see him needing size 2 already! I will try another brand do you have any recommendations x

So I used Fred and flo nappies from tescos at that age and found them to be great. Will be using them again for this LO due in 3 weeks. X

We found this was a problem with our little boy when using Asda little angels. When we switched to Fred and Flo we found they were so much better. Sainsbury’s own brand are pretty good too. Just be aware when you switch brand the sizing can also be very different, we had to move up to size 2 in Fred and Flo but could still use size 1 pampers

And you make sure the tapes are close to each other and you pull the leg cuff ruffles outwards and also make sure the backline is all the way up and straight?

i use these on my boy, 8lb 8oz when born. he’s now 4 weeks and never had a blow out and only had one pee leak… the time he leaked, the tapes weren’t meeting in the middle of the nappy and one ruffle was tucked in still , so we put it down to that and hasn’t happened since and was just that once x

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Baby with chronic congestion

Hi everyone! My 1 year has been a congested baby since birth almost. She breathes through her mouth so often that it wakes her up multiple times at night and she cries and screams and then struggles to go back to sleep. She wakes up every 1-3 hours and sometimes can’t go back to sleep for 2-3 hours!!! Piriton is the only thing that seems to help her sleep mostly through the night but I can’t keep giving her that!!
Does anyone have tips as to have I can do or give her? Has anyone experienced? I have no idea when I’ll get an ENT appointment and I have no idea what he can give a 13 mo :( we are desperate for sleep so any tips are welcome!! We have tried steam inhalation, saline drops, vapour rubs and everything off the counter basically!

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?
