Yup! My little boy is exactly the same, throws everything in sight even when you tell him no. Take the things off him and he goes mental. It’s all just part of it!
he even aims straight for our faces!!!! He thinks it’s funny when we say no 😭

It’s most likely due to feeling big emotions and he doesn’t know how to process, so lashes out.
I find empathising helps “I know you’re angry but it’s not ok to hit” for example. It doesn’t work immediately but keep at it and encourage him to express big feelings a different way and I promise it works. I ask my daughters if they want a cuddle instead and that usually helps. Looking for the reason behind the action rather than at the action itself is helpful.
I strongly recommend reading The Book You Wish Your Parents had read by Phillipa Perry. I hope this helps!!! C xx

I remove the things he throws. If he’s throwing toys they get put away
When he throws food, he gets removed from the table.
I made such progress and now have regressed because I have a 100 yr old toddler living with us now. He sees what she does and does it too
