C section nausea/vomitting

Can anyone reassure me the nausea and vomitting can be controlled with drugs? I’m terrified of sick and this part of my c section is stressing me out the most. I had a d&c under general last year and had anti sickness and was fine but I’ve heard horrid things about the spinal making people sick loads and it’s stressing me out x

Don’t be stressed mama. I was very sick but the anti sickness kicked it and I was fine

I didn’t have any nausea or vomiting

I’m also petrified of sick and I wasn’t sick at all, you’ll be okay🩵

Don’t stress! I had a spinal, started to feel very sick and within 2 minutes the anti sickness had kicked in and I felt fine! Xx

I was also scared of the same and was really nauseous at some points during my C-section but the anaesthetist is by your head at all times, monitoring your obs and anytime I started to feel sick, he was able to put anti sickness through my IV or, if the nausea was due to my blood pressure, he was able to stabilise it. I wasn’t sick during the section and it passed as soon as the medication was given, you’ll be fine! Xx

As part of your pre op you will be given anti sickness tablets to take the day before

I did feel sick during mine but as soon as I started to feel the slightest bit nauseous I told the anaesthetist and they gave me what I needed, it went away almost immediately - just make you sure you let them know and they will help you x

When I was in surgery I felt extremely sick (with my first) but they gave me anti sickness and it calmed the feeling of sick a lot. Don’t worry about it too much. Everyone is different. Just make sure you let the midwife and staff know in the room if you feel sick at all. You will have someone stood next to you or not far from you at all so someone is always there to help if they need xx

I was dry heaving for a few minutes. I'm not sure if they gave me something at that point though because it only lasted for 3 minutes at most. It might have been less. They probably did though.

I was sick but they kept offering me anti sickness to help x

I felt very sick during surgery I told the anaesthetist and they administered anti sickness straight away through the cannula it worked within minutes! Then I stayed on top of anti sickness afterwards!

Thats normal, it's from the anesthesia

Absolutely it can. Before we started Id already told the anaesthetist I was quite nauseous during my first as my BP dropped really quickly after the anaesthetic drugs. Within minutes of my spinal taking effect I started feeling sick. I asked for ondansatron which was already drawn up ready to give IV as I’d told him about being nauseous and within a minute of it being given the feeling passed and I was absolutely fine for the rest of the section Let the team know when they come to do your consent and they can have things ready to give

They will likely give you zofran and it works REALLY well. Also, tell your anesthesiologist and they will keep on top of it to be sure you’re feeling okay. I also got to use some aromatherapy (lavender and mint oil under my nose which helped a TON. Hospitals smell super gross to me so it was a life saver.

I was sick twice during my section, I felt that weird anti sickness juice they gave me in pre-op actually made it worse. It’s very awkward throwing up bile, especially when lying down and I had to ask my husband to take the baby away. I had to have a lot of anaesthetic though as initially it only went down only one half of my body

Yes, they give you anti-sickness meds intravenously and it works very quickly

I felt like I was going to, but they gave me plenty of drugs and I was fine!

I was honestly super surprised that I didn’t get nauseous or vomit since I heard how gnarly it was but the medicine they give you really keeps you from being in pain and nauseous
