I exclusively breastfed for 9 months. Then introduced 1 formula and 1 bottle from my freezer per day for the last few weeks. We do the morning and evening breastfeed still. I obviously expected my supply to dry somewhat but now baby doesn’t seem satisfied especially during the evening feed. I wanted to give up at 11 months anyways due to return to work.
Looking for advice on how to stop, what to expect and some kind words about stopping as the guilt I feel is so heavy I’m sad but it’s the right time to stop. How long will it take for my supply to fully dry up?

Breastfeeding hormones are crazy! You’ve done so well mama to get this far. I started weaning at 8 months, I dropped one feed every 3 days, and like you, stayed just doing the morning, evening and overnight feeds longer. Honestly, with me, my morning and evening supply did just start to dry up on their own. By 9 months I was only doing the overnight feeds and I found the time my girl spent on the boob was getting shorter and shorter, until one day a letdown just didn’t come! (This was at 10 months) If you’re wanting to stop and you’re not feeling extremely full, I would just skip the morning feed altogether and hand express a little to comfort throughout the day as needed and then do the same with the evening feed sometime after.
Be kind to yourself during this process, it’s a very emotional time, but it gets better. I’m happy to chat too if you need x
Thankyou that’s very kind! We have started the process by dropping the evening feed and replacing with formula. Didn’t expect to feel so emotional about it as I found breastfeeding quite challenging 😥 tomorow will be our last feed x

I feel you 100%, my journey was also very difficult. I think it’s because our experience wasn’t as we imagined, it makes it even more upsetting. The process is emotional, take some pics during your last feed. Thinking of you x
