Day 6 PP and trying to up my LO’s weight as she had lost 10% on her day 3 visit from midwife. Since then, my milk has come in and I’ve been clusterfeeding on demand. As of yesterdays day 5 visit, she has gained but im trying to maximise and wondering if anyone has tips for waking their sleepy baby when feeding?
My girl latches great and feeds for about 15 mins before getting really sleepy and unlatching herself. I try the usual cheek rubbing and repositioning onto other boob but when shes zonked, she’s done, and I’m worried she’s not getting to the hind milk. Midwife said I need to aim for minimum 20 mins really.
Tips anybody? TIA x

My little routine I would do was
- strip down to just her nappy
- feed on one side
- wind, change nappy, get her dressed
- feed on the other side
If she stopped suckling for too long I would gently squeeze her back into me 3 times, or squeeze breast 3 times to encourage her to continue.
If that didn't work I would unlatch her and just lay her on her back in front of me, she usually wouldn't like it and would wake up fussing

Try lightly blowing on her face before she detaches?
Could you use a Haakaa to catch your let down from the other breast and use it as top up for her? Or pump after you feed for her next feed as a top up? That's what my midwife has suggested to me to bring my LO weight up, he lost 8%
