@Ashley my OB already said she wouldn’t want me going past 41 weeks. I’m not miserable or anything just kinda getting impatient 🤷🏻♀️
If you’re not miserable I would personally wait and give baby some more time in there. I definitely get the getting impatient though lol
At 38 and 1cm I wouldn't, as it's unlikely to induce. Guidelines were also updated in recent years to the ideal delivery window being 39 weeks to 40+6 for best outcomes, compared to 37-42. I declined a sweep until I was at least past my due date, which was yesterday. Induction is at 5am tomorrow, so I let her do the sweep at my appt this morning since I'm dilated 4-5cm, but unfortunately no effect. Never had it done with previous pregnancies.
@Audrey my biggest concern is my original due date was April 5th they changed it at the beginning but now they’re saying she’s big so I’m like ugh which is it it’ll be my cost vaginal deliver and I don’t want a 10lb baby like they say she will be but last week she was still measuring 6lbs which is still really big for the babies in my family with three weeks still to go 😅 (and no gd either so don’t know why they say she’s big) but originally I did say I wanted to go all the way to my due date but if she’s going to be huge I’m like titter totting on it 😅
wouldn’t hurt to have a sweep done. even if you don’t go into labor it’ll help progress you atleast. i had a member sweep on my due date and that’s what made me go into labor. it’s definitely your choice but also your Dr. wouldn’t suggest something that is bad for baby.
I had two with my first pregnancy and they did absolutely nothing for me and i told myself i will not be doing them in the future. Baby will come when ready ❤️i did not have one with my current baby, though i didn’t have the opportunity really because i had a scheduled repeat c section and didn’t want him to come before that scheduled date
@Audrey how did the sweep feel? Did it hurt? I am 3cm dilated and 70% effaced. My appointment is Friday and I’m currently 39 weeks in wondering if I should opt for a sweep or wait a little longer.
@Mari It didn't really feel much different than the cervical checks, just took a little longer. Those have been a little painful with this doc though for some reason. Saw a different one at the practice one week and it wasn't painful, so I don't know if she just has short hands or what lol She never gave me a number regarding effacement. It was offered at 39 weeks, but I'm not convinced it helps much. Figured it wouldn't hurt to try within a day of my induction though.
It’s normal to go until 41 weeks and 6 days. I wouldn’t do it until 41 and 5 but that’s just me. I’m sure lots of women want to try sooner I’m just about letting your body do it when it’s ready.
