C-section with previous scar

So I'm aware this is a bit of a specific question and I'm hoping my picture here hopes to explain I have a previous surgery from when I was younger with a rather large scar running from my belly button down to just below my pants line this surgery happened 16 years ago so isn't fresh and is obviously fully healed There is a chance that I'm going to have to have a C-section with my current pregnancy due to some complications and risks being induced next week at 39 weeks so they can monitor my labour in hospital and section if needed! So my question here is will I be able to have a normal placement C-section with this current scar or will it be in a different location / have to be put to sleep?? Going to be asking these questions at my next appointment but thought I'd see if anyone here could answer them before

👋🏼 I have the same type of midline scar from a surgery 20 years ago and had a normal c section cut when I had a c section five years ago. So yes it’s very possible that you will have the same type of scar as everyone else, and hopefully similar healing. I was told before my c section that they would try the normal cut first but there was a chance they would have to change to a T shaped scar (upside down T). They said this was dependent on the levels of internal scar tissue - if things are very stuck together internally they have to do a more open cut (which obviously means longer healing). Hopefully you get to avoid this. 💗

@Francis thank you for commenting and sharing your experience! This has put my mind at ease about the chances of it being a routine section ❤️

I’d definitely ask your consultant/Dr whoever you’re under at the hospital about this, but can’t see why it would be an issue for a normal section as it’s been a long time since your previous surgery

Id day it depends on what surgery you had before, which parts of the body they operated on. Did they have to operate on your uterus or any of your reproductive organs at all?

It might depend and you might have to ask your doctor but i will let you know that they do the c section pretty low to almost the pubic bone if your delivery goes good!
