GD birth options

Hi all! Just wondering if there was anyone that chose an elective c section who also had GD? I was pretty set on this being my chosen option however meeting with the consultant today I feel like they tried to talk me out of it saying it's more risky for the baby! So currently feeling a little conflicted!

I was never told it was more risky for the baby, I had GD and an elective C section x

I had GD in both of my pregnancies (will most likely end up with it in this current pregnancy too)and had elective c sections both times. I was never told it was more risky. The only thing I was told that is baby may not be able to control blood sugars when born which wasn't an issue with my first and my second had his drop a few times but he wasn't in taking as much milk they wanted him to take so required a sugar gel for a few feeds to bring his blood sugars normal

I had late stage GD with my second baby, found out at 28 weeks. I had already had an elective agreed and a date before I found out ( had an elective with my first as well so they actually booked this if for me at 24 week ). It was heavily suggested that I move the elective from 39 weeks to 37 weeks due to the GD. The only risk was down to this, not to the GD itself as having the baby at 37 weeks can increase the time of some respiratory problems although baby was actually totally fine.

I had GD (diet controlled) and had elective / planned due to my daughter being breech. All perfectly safe and having GD means you actually get put really high on the list in the morning. I was second in that day. I’d really challenge that advice and why they say it’s more “risky”. Some hospitals are more resistant to elective c sections than others so that might be a contributing factor?

I had an elective, GD, and was on insulin. No one told me it was more risky. Baby had sugar levels checked twice and passed with flying colours. I had baby at 38+4, and she is perfect xx

I had GD and an elective! Got GD again and I’ll be having an elective again! There are risks involved but not more so because of your GD….if your GD has led to a big baby, that could lead to increased risks with a vaginal birth.

I also requested an elective C-section with my first baby and going to do the same with this new pregnancy. They definitely told me all the risks of a c-section, and yes maybe tried a bit to talk me out of it. But I was set on the c-section and had one at 39 weeks.
