Elective c section

Has anyone at Derby had an elective section and been allowed to have baby placed straight onto their chest for skin to skin? I’ve had 2 previous emergency c sections, this is my last baby and I’m sad I’ve never been able to experience that skin to skin immediately after like you get with a vaginal birth. Please comment your experience. I’m at the consultant clinic on Tuesday so will be asking them.

I didn’t have my son in derby but the hospital I had him in, that was standard practice unless medically not possible. They did quickly dry him off and pop a hat on him but then he was straight on my chest for hours. I’d just ask what they do and if they can accommodate it!

I had an elective section at Derby royal 3 months ago. When they said do you want to hold baby I said yes they told me I couldn’t but dad could I got told I’d have to wait until I was in recovery to hold my son! 🙃 I’ve requested my medical records to understand why I couldn’t hold my baby when I was awake and in a healthy state , it wasn’t an emergency or anything either

The offered me the skin to skin instantly after she was born but I couldn't as I was shaking uncontrollably and was afraid I would drop her I asked for my husband to do it instead

I had a c section in January and they dried the baby off and then went straight to skin to skin
