Is anyone else's midwives pushing you to have a home birth

So each time we've spoke to the midwives (we're at a community one not hospital due to location) they keep pushing us to have a home birth despite us saying we want a birthing centre. What's everyone's experiences and how did you manage it?

That's fantastic!

You're more likely to need less intervention when you plan to birth at home, even if you end up transferring. There was a study called The Birth Place Study that found there's no difference in infant mortality, but women planning a homebirth were far more likely to have a normal vaginal birth (non-instrumental)

Here's a really good post on it if you want to read up
https://www.sarawickham.com/research-updates/is_home_birth_safe/#:~:text=It%20is%20important%20to%20know,results%20that%20the%20'higher%20risk'

If you book in with the homebirth team, you're just giving yourself more options on the day you go into labour. Remember if you want to transfer in, you always can, but if on the day you can't bear the idea of getting into the car, you're a bit stuck if you haven't registered with the homebirth team

Another plus is with the HB team you do tend to get far better continuity of care (see the same midwife for your appointments) and you get to have your appointments at home

I've had one hospital birth (which started in the birth centre), and one home birth, and the homebirth was 1000% better. I wish I'd chosen homebirth for the first one!

There's a fantastic Facebook group too called Homebirth Support Group UK where you can read birth stories and get advice (e.g. where to hire a birth pool from if you wanted one, what to expect if X happens etc..) which was so useful

Small head reported following 20 week scan

Has anyone else had it flagged that their baby is in the bottom 5th percentile for head size?

They said everything was fine whilst we were in the scan and then I got a phone call the next day saying that it’s on the small side and we’re being referred to a paediatric specialist at St George’s. Has anyone else had this and how did things go??

Would you bring 9 week old to a family party of 35+ people?

These are also people who will want to pass the baby around and get a turn to hold him. He just got his 2 month shots two days ago

Exercise 6 weeks after c section

What movement did people start to introduce? I won’t do anything too vigorous until I’ve seen the pelvic physio as I don’t want to compromise anything that may have been extremely weakened through pregnancy! But just wondering what types of classes/movement people started off with?

Scan needed at 33 weeks

Hi ladies! I just had a midwife appointment (I am 33+5)..the midwife was different to my usual midwife. She's requested I have a scan within 72 hours as she said baby is measuring a little small, however, she did say that it's likely nothing to worry about and it's probably just her measuring me a bit different to my usual midwife. Has anyone else had this? Am a bit worried although babys heartbeat and movements are completely fine.

Finding out gender

Has anyone found out the gender at a private scan at 14 weeks? And has this been accurate?

I found out at 17 with my first but I know a scan place that offers from 14/15 weeks and I’m impatient 😂🥲
