Derby Royal Hospital Experience

After feeling really nervous about the care at Derby Royal after seeing so many negative comments, I just want to reassure anyone who feels the same that I could not fault the care I received. Labour took an unfortunate turn with ending in surgery but every single midwife, nurse, doctor, anaesthetist and beyond was 1000/10. I honestly could not thank them enough for the compassion, care & kindness they showed me. Just wanted to share that it’s not all bad and please don’t be worried if you’ve seen the awful things! Obviously everyone’s experiences are different but I am genuinely shocked at the amazing care that came from all angles.

This is so amazing to hear. I have a planned c-section tomorrow and feeling very apprehensive so thank you for sharing! Congratulations on your new arrival 🥰

I can totally agree with this! I was induced then after a while ended up in an emergency c section and cannot fault the treatment I received pre or post labour. Congratulations on the safe arrival of your little one 🥰

I'm genuinely so happy for you that you got the care and compassion you needed ❤️ i wasn't so lucky with all 4 kids but I guess it depends on the team on duty and beds available etc. Aftercare for me on 314 was atrocious. I HATE ward 314 and actually have PTSD from that place. However, it helps seeing others like yourself say how good things were for you. Congratulations xx

I was in at the weekend and all of the staff were lovely. The service could have been quicker as I was keen to get home but I saw soo many different staff and all were kind and helpful.

So happy you had a good experience

I had the best experience with my pregnancy and had the best consultant. I would recommend delivering here.

I agree with you that the staff really did give 1000/10 for me at my birth. The problem I had was waiting hours to be seen by a doctor to check if they were going to induce me which never happened and I was going into labour in the induction ward. It took hours to get a labour room 😭

@Katie I hope all went well with your C section and you and your baby are doing well. The team in theatre when I had my section was amazing. Enjoy the baby bubble, and hopefully when you start having visitors they bring you food 😂 that was my rule.

Congratulations! & 100% agree it was an incredible experience due to the amazing staff I had, cannot fault them!
