Walking up stairs

Hi ladies I’m a first time mum and had a c-section on Monday they took my dressing off yesterday and said it’s healing well. I was wondering am I able to walk up and down stairs now or should I wait a little longer ?

Congrats on your new baba! I walked up and down stairs (slowly!!!) from the day after I got home so I’m sure you’ll be fine. Just take it easy but the more little movements you do, the quicker you’ll heal x

Ah perfect as long as it’s safe for me to do so and it won’t cause any issues with the incision

I would try and avoid going up and down stairs too much as this puts lots of pressure on your uterus. If you are going to be using the stairs I would go up the stairs backwards as this puts less pressure down there(:

Avoid too much but yes, you can. And you can hold the baby and nothing heavier

You can definitely walk up and down stairs. I lived in a 3rd floor walk up immediately after my C-section. I did 3 full flights of stairs multiple times everyday. I did not have a single complication with my incision, healed perfectly. Just go slowly and take a quick break if you have any pain. Movement is actually the best thing you can do to help heal!

We have stairs and I tried to avoid them I had fiancé set up a bed downstairs just don’t push yourself

I was walking up and down stairs the day I got home from the hospital.

With my first, I was walking up and down the stairs from the day I got home, and definitely regretted it. I overdid it and it took me forever to recover because I didn’t give myself a break and let my body heal.

I walked down the stairs in the hospital 26 hours after my c section as long as you go slow and are careful you'll be fine.

I was walking up and down the stairs a few days after! We live on the 4th floor in a flat 😂 incision was fine! Just take it easy.

I walked upstairs and down but slowly and holding unto a banister and side stepping it. Defo keep up with the meds xx

Didnt know that we werent allowed to i was walkng up and down them the day i got home just walk up and down slow i feel do a stair at a time if that makes sense ? I wouldnt walk up them backwards incase you fall cause your jerk yourself trying to stop and make yourself more sore

Yeah, you’re fine to do stairs. I was never told not to and I had no issues climbing stairs anyway. It’s safe and advised to get up and keep moving, just go slow. I live in a 3 floor house and was up and down the stairs from the day I came home with the baby as I had no option.

I did it slowly right away, think i might have done it sideways. felt a bit easier than normal walking in some ways

I didn’t know it was a thing not using the stairs after a c-section. My bathroom is upstairs so I had to use the stairs the day after my baby was born
