Is baby delayed?

I’m worried that my 9 month old is not meeting milestones. She can sit up but can’t crawl. Can’t wave or clap hands yet. Babbles away and is always happy. Are the milestones being met for her age?

My little boy is only just about starting to crawl, can't clap hands yet or wave but he can say a couple of words, I've asked my HV and my GP about it and I've been told he's at exactly where he should be for his age, try not compare your baby to others (easier said than done I know)

Sounds perfectly normal. All babies develop differently, but the average 9 month old can sit independently and wave. My LO is 9 months and the same and I'm not concerned at all. Some babies meet milestones early, some later, some skip them. They are learning so so much at the minute

Please please do not stress so much about these ‘milestones’. Please try to use them more as a guide rather than things your baby has to do at that age. Every baby develops at their own pace and it’s ok to be a bit ‘late’ to certain activities. My oldest daughter didn’t crawl until she turned 1, my second started crawling at 7 month. My eldest was eating independently from 6 months, my second doesn’t care for food at all at 9 months. My daughter didn’t walk until 1yr 2month, my second started showing signs of walking at 9 month. You’re baby is right on track at their own pace and is perfect 💕

I know an almost 11 month old with 1 tooth, just learnt to sit up, is still only on purees (no hate on that btw) and doesn't even try to crawl, doesn't even stay on their tummy Health visitor said it was absolutely fine and no worries. If you're worried mumma, just call your local health visiting team & ask for a review & they will go through everything with you. I'm sure she's fine

Mine is same only just started waving. If concern speak to your health vistor but it's still 'normal'

@Samantha my LG doesn't wave yet, I'm so excited for when she does 🥹

Mines the exact same, but he’s cracked ‘high 5’ which I’m proud of him about.. but unsure if this is the same sorta milestone? But I’m going with it haha 😅 but I literally high 5 him for anything so that’s probably why haha xxx

My little girl is 9 months tomorrow. She sits up unaided and can say her sisters name Lola and hi and dada but otherwise doesn’t wave or crawl yet x

Waving and clapping are expected any time between 9 and 12 months! And many babies never crawl!! Try not to worry about it unless there are other delays all around.

@Alex from what I have heard there are 16 gestures expected by 16 months and it doesn't really matter what order they come in. I think high 5 would count as a gesture in that case.

Crawling isn’t a milestone. Rolling, sitting, and walking are. Crawling is a bonus.

I can fully understand why the milestones are there but bless you remember they’re only a guideline!! All babies do things at a their own pace. My 9 month old can’t clap or wave but can crawl and I’m sure there’s other babies that will be able to do one thing but not the other! Sounds like a perfectly developing baby to me❤️

My daughter can’t crawl either but is really good at standing, I was getting worried so I’m glad I’m not the only one

Just like to add, I didn't crawl, just stood up one day & walked. Very out of the blue and my friend didn't talk or babble until 4 years old, when she came out with a full sentence and then never shut up 🤣

Mine sits up, waves and claps her hands. Still not crawling yet, but honestly they'll do things at their own pace.
