Can I put a cloth nappy over a regular nappy?

I’ve got a couple of cloth nappies from bundles. I love the look of them but not brave enough to actually use them. With the hot weather, I’ve been putting my baby in dresses - can I put the cloth nappy over her nappy as an additional protective layer in case of blowouts (and because it looks cute)??

That sounds adorable! It would be like wearing shorts under her dress 😁
🤔 I don't see why it would be an issue 🤔

Shouldn't be an issue. Feel free to message me if you want any advice/pointers to information about cloth nappies though.
My first went into them around 4ish weeks and my 2nd has never worn a disposable nappy 😊 generally you don't get blowouts, sometimes leaks when the fit/nappy type isn't right but once you've found the nappy that suits your little one, leaks are seldom x

right?! I was just concerned about breathability with the double layer of two absorbent materials, but also i thought nappies in general are also fairly breathable as a rule as well…excited to do this now!

Should be fine!
I use cloth nappies with my little one. It’s a bit of a learning curve, but now it’s second nature.
There are Facebook groups for helping you learn how to get the right fit, combination of inserts etc. But if you just want someone to talk you through it feel free it drop me a message if you want some starting tips, if you decide to take the plunge!

Depending on age, I’m not sure it would be recommended - simply because the extra bulk from wearing two could restrict movement? Unless it’s just a wrap you’re putting on on top of the disposable? I’d either just wear the cloth nappy or put short on top of the disposable tbh

this is probably true so it’s worth OP checking with a health visitor or doctor… when I was a baby in the 80s I had a dodgy hip and the advice to stabilise it was to put me in double (cloth) nappies. As a result I never crawled because my bum was too big! Went straight to walking early though so I guess it didn’t hurt me lol

good point, I haven’t thoroughly checked my cloth nappies yet but I wouldn’t be looking to use any of the pads or anything. It’d purely just be so I’m not holding onto just the nappy when I’m holding her and so her nappy isn’t constantly on display (as the dresses ride up a bit)

Help! First time mum -

I have a 4 month old and now all of a sudden when he’s been asleep for 1hr30/2hrs he will wake up screaming (high pitched) I’ve tried winding him sometimes that helps, I’ve tried bicycle legs & bringing his knees up but that doesn’t seem to help but he brings his knees up himself sometimes but nothing happens. I’ve noticed since the 4 month mark he has started to struggle passing wind downwards! Any tips?

Bath Time

Help! My baby is 3 and a half weeks old. Every bath she goes in quite happy but will only stay like this for a very few mins, if I try to clean her or move her we have tears and after a few mins the same. It's like she is scared. Our current baby bath is quite big should I try a different one? Looking for any suggestions as want her to enjoy bath time not be upset and I'm scared I'm going to make her hate it😢💗

Big nursing bras!

I’m looking for recommendations for good nursing bras for bigger breasted ladies!

I’m currently in a 38H which seems to be the biggest size done at M&S (UK based mama here) and it’s snug and not as supportive as I’d like. When I look online, they mainly seem to be sized S, M, L, XL etc rather than bra sizes.

Any recommendations please?

Crying during feeding

Hey mams! My girl is 6 weeks on Monday and is having so much trouble with feeding. It doesn’t happen every feed but more often than not she will start a bottle and just start crying as if she’s in pain and she can’t take the milk. I think it’s trapped wind but I genuinely don’t know what to do it’s so pitiful to see her not be able to feed! She’s formula fed and on HiPP Organic.
Anyone else been in this position? I’m pretty sure it’s just a bit of trapped wind that she needs to fart out but can’t! If anyone has any advice I’d be very grateful as I think I may need to tape my eyelids open soon 😂
