Hi, I’m 32w pregnant and experiencing a bad UC flare, I spent all of last week admitted to hospital & was given IV steroids. I’ve been discharged now & back on oral steroids but I’m still highly symptomatic. I’m still going 15-20 times a day and it’s worse throughout the night. The consultant said they can see the drugs are starting to work but that I might just continue being highly symptomatic whilst pregnant. Has anyone else experienced this issue before? I am finding it really unsustainable to cope with. This is my second pregnancy; I flared more frequently during my last pregnancy but the oral steroids always worked well but this time my symptoms don’t seem to be reducing. Not sure how to cope with the symptoms of another 8 weeks of this. Has anyone else been told to cope with a prolonged period of symptoms before?

Try a liquid diet, not the best (especially when pregnant and on steroids). but something I had to do for the last 4 months of my pregnancy due to my Crohn’s 😔 I was also on iv steroids. I done a diet of nuticia elemental drinks, or you can do the ensure or fortisip drinks which taste a lot better, you just need to make sure they don’t contain much fibre. I hope this helps and you feel well soon 🫶🏼
