Circumcision Help

We plan to circumcise our newborn son. I’ve heard that it helps to cover their penis in Vaseline or something to prevent it from sticking to their diaper, which can cause bleeding. I want to prevent discomfort if I can. What do you recommend we use for this? Will coconut oil work well? I’ve considered Vaseline, Aquaphor, and coconut oil as coconut oil is antibacterial (bonus) but would love any and all suggestions/ your personal experiences with this. I’d usually never purchase Vaseline or Aquaphor as we love coconut oil for everything but not sure if it will work in this case.

I’m not seeking any opinions on circumcisions, I already understand it’s controversial for several reasons. This is a question for those who have circumcised and have useful input.

We used Vaseline and it worked perfectly fine. You’ll need to get wipes that have absolutely no additives in it. Like just water.

I mixed some aquaphor with some of my breastmilk! We never had any issues with bleeding, and it made it heal quicker too!

We didn’t do it but I feel like coconut oil might be too drying. Like it’s not super thick so it can still get stuck to things. I’d use something thicker like what the others are suggesting. Maybe mixing with coconut oil could work

We also put the Vaseline on him but we also put a thin coat across the part of the diaper that would be touching his penis, just to make sure it wouldn’t stick to him. We never had any issue with bleeding.

Use vasaline. Coconut oil won’t cause a good enough barrier and it could cause a rash if he’s allergic. Tip: I had no idea baby would be in pain the rest of the day. Get infant Tylenol just in case. Mine would cry out in pain every time he felt it again and it broke my heart to pieces. I nursed and cuddled him all day. Still sore for three days then he was fine

It honestly depends on the method that gets done. My son had the bell method where I did not have to do a single thing to it if you have any questions feel free to message me.

Use the cream they give and Vaseline on the daiper

Our doctor recommended Vaseline. While changing diaper, put a teaspoon of Vaseline on the penis, put a square gauze on top of it, and then put on the diaper. No need to wrap the gauge or anything, just on top of the Vaseline

I wouldn’t use coconut oil in the case of a reaction and its also not thick enough to prevent sticking. Aquaphor or vaseline is best. At the hospital they should give you some small packets of vaseline but if not definitely buy some to have .

https://a.co/d/fz6oxyQ we used something like these the we could stick on to the diaper and then basic petroleum jelly worked great

Coconut oil will not be a good enough barrier, it needs to be thick. Vaseline or aquaphor are your best options.

I was told to get a kitchen towel and fold it across their Willy whilst it’s covered in Vaseline and then put their nappy on

Avatar

All you needed is gauze and vaseline.

Vaseline works best. The doctors will tell you how to care for it after the procedure so you’ll just need to follow the instructions. It’s a fast healing process so you don’t have anything to worry about🙏

We used Vaseline for our little one and it worked really well. It created a good barrier and helped prevent any sticking to the nappy, which made the healing process smoother. I completely understand wanting to go the natural route, we’re big fans of coconut oil too, but for this particular case, Vaseline felt like the most reliable option. Wishing you all the best with everything and a smooth recovery for your baby boy!

We used Vaseline. The hospital sent us home with a crap ton of it. I literally still have some leftover 16 months later lol

My son was circumcised the 8th day by a Rabbi , and he provided a anti biotic/pain relief ointment with gauzes . That worked perfectly

Avatar

which method was this?

Avatar

Use vaseline big blobs in the tip of his penis. And use paracetamol

Avatar

We used Vaseline. I put some on his diaper and his penis to make sure it wouldn’t stick. Had no issues this way and it healed very quickly.

Avatar

we didn't have to with the method our dr used

I got my son circumcised on Saturday I have just been using Vaseline that’s it! I wouldn’t recommend anything else just Vaseline, make sure you stock up you go through a lot !

Do men really enjoy fellatio?

Been together more than 10 years, but it's been a while since he even seemed remotely interested in me getting on my knees, or vice versa so to speak. I think it was once last year. Must be something I am doing wrong 🤔. Generally everything else in that department is great and we have two young kids with no extra support, so it's quite surprising we can't keep our hands off each other but may need to try new things. It's basically 2 positions each time with some foreplay.

Naps

How is everyone doing for naps?

Little one is 9 months old and will have 2 half hour naps and one solid 1 hour - 2 hour nap a day

Then settles for night around 9pm. Wakes for a feed around 3:30 then sleeps until 6-7

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Pumping advise

FTM to a 2 week old! I’m breastfeeding and then giving one formula bottle last in the evening before bed. I want to start expressing milk to give me some breathing room and also allow my partner to be more involved in feeding. I’m finding the idea of introducing pumping into my day quite overwhelming though. I don’t want to take milk away from my baby by pumping if he needs it during the day when being breastfeed.

Can anyone advise how I start pumping and when to do it? Thank you!

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.
