Stool softeners and laxatives will be your best friend! Just make sure to double check with your OB/midwife if you're breastfeeding because some laxatives shouldn't be used while breastfeeding. It just takes time, but that was for sure the worst part of recovery for me as well!
@Shauna no they didn’t prescribe me any of that! Well ibuprofen they did! But not the other stuff x
@MK thank you for your reply!
Stool softeners worked best for me. 1st c-sec staff gave me a liquid one that was fast acting and I had zero trouble. 2nd c-sec staff made a mistake- gave me laxatives for a few days before the stool softener (certain laxatives only work to move the muscles so the bowels move, but don’t do anything to soften what’s already there). So, let’s just say my body was not able to handle the result very well! Had to take the strongest pain killers those days.
Yeah. I’d try senna its natural and safe for breastfeeding. Just be sure to ask your ob first ☺️
Peppermint tea .... I tried baby gripe water and worked for me ... X
I took consitaption relief i wasnt perscribed anything either
Try lactulose in the morning! Hospital sent me home with some and it was pretty effective (and fast acting!)
They gave me stool softeners for 2 weeks. Had no problem with passing stool and no gas as well. Ask for it mama
I second peppermint tea!
I had this so bad. I didn't poop for 6 days even though I had the laxatives they prescribed. I ended up getting my partner to go to the pharmacy for me. He got a suppository that sorted me out completely. You literally can't get away from the toilet all day but it got things moving a stopped the pain. It was a nightmare 24hrs but I was so relieved to poop 😂. Wishing you well x
To be clear, my partner spoke to the pharmacist who also spoke to a DR who gave us the go ahead. I was literally doubled over in pain x
Peppermint tea helped me 👌🏼
Ibuprofen can actually make you MORE constipated I’d definitely look into a laxative just to help your stool become regular bowel movements

Lactulose and peppermint tea x
They didn’t prescribe you a laxative like senno ? They had me on 3 different pain pills Tylenol ibuprofen, oxyco and sennoside and it helped a lot. I had the same issue in the beginning I think it took about a 5 days to have a bowel movement after my c section. It just takes some time try to be patient with your body I know it’s hard.
