Breast feeding

I’m due in about 4 weeks or so and want to give breastfeeding and pumping a good go (if it doesn’t work then that’s fine too!). Would people recommend electric/hands free pumps or manual ones? I don’t want to really spend a lot in case it’s not our feeding path so was just thinking of getting cheap - if anyone has any recommendations that would also be great🥰

I would definitely recommend an electric pump, I personally haven’t got on with manual pumps, find them quite difficult to get the hang of but that could just be me! I started off with a cheap pump and then upgraded to a spectra once I’d established breastfeeding xx

What’s your plan for pumping? Are you doing it to enable your baby to be given a bottle by someone else? It makes a difference to my recommendation that’s all

An electric one is really handy. Also having a double so you can do both at the same time can be really useful and saves you time. You can also try and collect colostrum from about 37 weeks and freeze it. I’d also recommend getting yourself some nipple cream and applying it from day 1 for breastfeeding, it’s pretty likely that you’ll be sore for a couple of days while your body adjusts. It can take a few days for your milk to come in so if feeding or pumping for the first few days don’t worry too much if there doesn’t seem to be much coming

I use the Nullie ones on Amazon. Decent but not quiet but they are cheap!
I've recently got myself an Elvie one on Vinted though and I love it!
I would also look at and take in as much information as you can on breastfeeding beforehand too so you are prepared and understand it because the knowledge 100% key to it being a success and continuing with it.
Also keep in mind that what you pump is no reflection of your supply.
100% recommend a wearable one electric because honestly. I rented an electric one that's not wearable and barely had chance to use it because I needed to hold it to my boob and I never had my hands free 😂

It is TOUGH. Natural but bloody tough but if you can get through those early days where they are permanently attached to you, it's 100% worth it ❤️

La Leche League is a good website to check out :)

You can also rent a hospital grade pump for a month and see how it goes for you. If you continue breastfeeding you can invest to a better one after a month.

Breastfeeding journey didn’t work out for me, however I used a manual pump which I found good because I was too sore so I could control it a lot more and be comfortable! I think it varies person to person😊. I think if you’re planning to pump and provide breast milk more frequently that way like they say above invest in a hands free one which are electric but if you are using to enable your partner to provide the occasional bottle a manual as they aren’t too expensive! 🫶🏻xx

My LO is 4months and I’m breast feeding. I brought a manual and electric pump but the electric one is still in the box unused! The manual one is a medela cost around £15 x

yes, that’s the plan so my husband can feed if needs be

I love my electric pump, but it was hard to get on a pumping schedule for me and was always too tired by end of day, so I mostly stayed with him latched. Having a manual pump has helped tremendously to pump at my own control from bed at the end of the day!

Help! First time mum -

I have a 4 month old and now all of a sudden when he’s been asleep for 1hr30/2hrs he will wake up screaming (high pitched) I’ve tried winding him sometimes that helps, I’ve tried bicycle legs & bringing his knees up but that doesn’t seem to help but he brings his knees up himself sometimes but nothing happens. I’ve noticed since the 4 month mark he has started to struggle passing wind downwards! Any tips?

Bath Time

Help! My baby is 3 and a half weeks old. Every bath she goes in quite happy but will only stay like this for a very few mins, if I try to clean her or move her we have tears and after a few mins the same. It's like she is scared. Our current baby bath is quite big should I try a different one? Looking for any suggestions as want her to enjoy bath time not be upset and I'm scared I'm going to make her hate it😢💗

Big nursing bras!

I’m looking for recommendations for good nursing bras for bigger breasted ladies!

I’m currently in a 38H which seems to be the biggest size done at M&S (UK based mama here) and it’s snug and not as supportive as I’d like. When I look online, they mainly seem to be sized S, M, L, XL etc rather than bra sizes.

Any recommendations please?

Crying during feeding

Hey mams! My girl is 6 weeks on Monday and is having so much trouble with feeding. It doesn’t happen every feed but more often than not she will start a bottle and just start crying as if she’s in pain and she can’t take the milk. I think it’s trapped wind but I genuinely don’t know what to do it’s so pitiful to see her not be able to feed! She’s formula fed and on HiPP Organic.
Anyone else been in this position? I’m pretty sure it’s just a bit of trapped wind that she needs to fart out but can’t! If anyone has any advice I’d be very grateful as I think I may need to tape my eyelids open soon 😂
