Feeding to sleep - is 7 weeks too early to try and break habits?

My baby mainly feeds to sleep. On the rare occasion I’ve put him down and he’s gone to sleep himself. Is it too early to try and get him to not feed to sleep? I.e being put down in the next to me half drowsey etc? Or am I just delusional with high expectations that I can stop bad habits?

I think go with your gut and research what you think might work for you. We still try and feed to sleep at 11 weeks old but I don't see it as a bad habit as it has just worked for us and works great on the night. I just see it as him being nice and full/relaxed ready for a good sleep. I have thought "how am I ever going to have a night away eventually!" so definitely not delusional for thinking about it.

My little boy has naturally not been consistently feeding to sleep over the last week so if I think he's full and is ready for sleep but hasn't fallen asleep on the breast, I'll use his dummy to get him to sleep. Thankfully he doesn't wake when it falls out. We're going to try my husband bottle feeding expressed breast milk to see if he'll fall asleep on the bottle or with the dummy for my husband as we've still not tried that yet 🙈 Babies that young can't self soothe so it's only natural that we somehow soothe to sleep but I know some babies can fall asleep when drowsy, just not mine 🙈 x

Your baby is still so tiny, personally I’d not be fussed about my baby still feeding to sleep, however it’s whatever works for you! I also think it just depends on the temperament of your baby. My son is currently 6 weeks and I can put him down drowsy for nighttime sleep and he’ll nod off himself, I could do the same with my daughter at this age. However I then stopped being able to as she got a little older, then was able to again after another month or so. My point being, sleep is absolutely not linear for little ones, hence why I wouldn’t worry if they can drift off to sleep on their own at this small age. Things chop and change so regularly with their sleep that if not feeding to sleep doesn’t work for your baby at this age, it isn’t to say it won’t work in a few weeks/months. Also I wouldn’t call feeding to sleep a bad habit at all - it’s perfectly normal for many babies, so don’t worry! Go with what works for your baby and you 😊☺️

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

6 month old autistism

My 6 month old makes no eye contact with me and doesn’t respond when I call him. Can this just be a phase or personality trait as apposed to autism

Baby with chronic congestion

Hi everyone! My 1 year has been a congested baby since birth almost. She breathes through her mouth so often that it wakes her up multiple times at night and she cries and screams and then struggles to go back to sleep. She wakes up every 1-3 hours and sometimes can’t go back to sleep for 2-3 hours!!! Piriton is the only thing that seems to help her sleep mostly through the night but I can’t keep giving her that!!
Does anyone have tips as to have I can do or give her? Has anyone experienced? I have no idea when I’ll get an ENT appointment and I have no idea what he can give a 13 mo :( we are desperate for sleep so any tips are welcome!! We have tried steam inhalation, saline drops, vapour rubs and everything off the counter basically!

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?
