When do you start teaching kids to ride a bike/training wheels

I have two sons, 4yrs and 2.5yrs. We were at the playground the other day, and there were other young kids on bikes. I realized I've never made any attempts to teach my boys how to ride a bike. Should I have done that already? Or is it normal to wait until 4/5yr? Should I try to teach him now? How old were your kids when you taught them?

I’d start when they ask for it with training wheels ofcourse

I feel like it depends on your kids. My oldest was riding with no training wheels by 3, but thats bc he wanted too. The younger one was 4. But then I have friends who's kids were 5 or 6.... I don't think you need to compare yourself to others.. we get busy in life as mom's, we do the best we can. If you start working on it now, great! If you wait, great! Do your kids have any interest in learning? I feel that's a major component as well

I'd do it ASAP personally. The older they get the harder it is because of fear (we taught step son when he was 9/10).

It’s totally up to you and your kids’ interest 😊 my elder brother learnt to ride the bike before he turned 3 and I had no big interest towards bikes and only started to ride one when I was around 8-9. My brother showed me how to and I learnt it within one day and loved it ever since.

Do it whenever they are interested without pressure. It’s never too late or too early to learn something fun ❤️

Yeah teach him now. It’s a good age, 4/5

My son is just over 2 and is a demon on a balance bike! But that’s only because we live next door to his cousins who were both riding bikes at 3 and he really wants to join in! I can’t ride a bike personally and never would have thought of it if it weren’t for my niece and nephew. I’d say maybe when they express interest in it? Though maybe don’t leave it too late or the fear will set in- I’m 36 and terrified of the prospect of having to learn so I can take my son on bike rides!

I think the balance bikes are great for younger kids. It makes them way quicker at learning to ride a bike without the helping wheels. Maybe get one of those and see if they like it.

I feel like it’s never too late 🤷🏻‍♀️ No need to fret! Your 2.5yo could def do it though, training wheels for sure and regular/balance bike depending on his coordination
