Hey Emma, so when i had my twins via c section my wound opened up slightly. I ended up going to the hospital and they just cleaned it really good and sent me home with what i need to do to care for it. Honestly, continue caring for it the best way you can right now your body has to do its job with the healing process. If the docs are telling you it’s ok to just continue carring then i wouldn’t worry. Once you start getting a smell and or when you check in the mirror and it doesn’t look well then I’d be concerned. Be patient with your healing process and be gentle with yourself.
I would still ask the gp to have a look at it, so you could have a peace of mind.
I had mine open 3 times and after the 3rd time I asked them for the silver nitrate sticks. They burn (not literally, more like a sting) but it helps! Something about the silver has healing properties and helps “fuse” the skin together again🫶🏻
Thank you for all your messages. I’ve woken up today and there’s a bit of fluid coming from it so phoned the GP for an appointment.
Mine didn’t open again thankfully but it seems odd they aren’t concerned about an uncovered open wound? Surely it’s just a matter of time until it becomes infected in that case. Hope you’ve got some good advice from your doctor today
Mine split open 3 separate times. The only time anything was done about it was when it got infected and the infection started eating the opening wider until the internal stitches were visible, then they dressed it once, gave me dressings to do myself and antibiotics. Thankfully the antibiotics healed the entire thing completely. I really feel like you’re left on your own with the wound care, it’s a nightmare I have a background in wound care, first aid etc dressing major wounds isn’t a problem, until it was on myself 😵💫
