Newborn is 4 weeks old and tends to grunt and squirm when feeding sometimes (formula fed). As if he is trying to poop and it hurts but he has just had a yellow watery stool so it’s not constipation.
Is this just him trying to digest the milk (along with trapped wind/gas) and is normal or should I consider changing the milk he is on? Currently he’s on cow and gate.
Thanks!!

Learn more about our guidelines. My little one is similar. Goes red, arches back, squirms around and generally uncomfortable and spitting up after a feed. We also use cow and gate. Considering changing or trying the anti reflux milk instead.
Doctor prescribed gaviscon after hearing all the things she does but not sure I want to use it.
Have you contacted gp?
@Chelsea we avoided gaviscon as it can give them constipation. We also were in cow & gate and eventually been prescribed different milk by the gp. Speak with your health visitor too x
@Joo can I ask what type of milk they prescribed?
She was fine for the first few weeks but once she started having 4oz its a different story.
I'll give health visitor a try.. thank you x
Do they unlatch a bit while grunting and squirming? We found that when our LO was doing this was because he had outgrown the 0+ teat
@Chelsea Aptamil Pepti 1. But before that health visitor advised us to try the cow & gate anti reflux but that didn’t seem to help much x
