5am - 6am wakes

We keep starting the day between 5am - 6am and it’s killing me 😭. Has anyone figured out what it is and how to stop it? And do you do 2 naps when you have a 5am start?
Also, before anyone says anything, I always try to treat it as a ‘night wake’ but I cannot get him back to sleep, I try everything.
Sometimes if we go out for the day, he might only have an hour for his nap, and he still wakes up early.
Normal routine is
Nap 12pm for 1.5-2hrs
Bedtime 7/7:30 depending on how tired he is

It’s the same for us. He falls asleep around 8pm and still wakes up between 5-6am. I dream of sleeping in till 8am. How times have changed 😂

We seem to go through phases of this that last a few weeks then stop and then start again.
We’re currently in one at the moment after having 7am wake ups for a while.
Nothing in his routine has changed so I’ve no idea what causes it 🙈🙈

Omg 😭 it’s awful. Do you do 2 naps when they wake so early? I’m at my wits end with it, I’m so tired

We go through phases but if she ever wakes up at that time she gets in our bed with us and generally falls back asleep. When she’s on a good ru. She usually sleeps 12 hours at night, roughly 7-7, but she has been on 1 nap a day (around lunchtime between 1-2 hrs) for quite a while now, if she has another afternoon nap past 3 she won’t go to bed xx

My son goes to sleep at 7/7:15 and is waking between 5-6 too. He has one nap around which can vary between 30 minutes to 1h50. I’m sooooo tired🤣

Your post felt as if I had written it myself in terms of sleep schedule! However, in my situation this is actually an improvement from how it used to be.. with multiple wakes and feeds in the night until a couple of months ago. Then I just stopped the feeds during the night and she keeps waking up within the night a couple of times now, but goes back to sleep easily thankfully. If she wakes up eventually at 6 and not earlier, I am really happy, but my husband helps and takes her out of bed - he is an early riser too haha

If bedtime is 7pm with a 2 hour nap I’d say by 5am they’ve likely had enough sleep.

12 hours overnight plus a two hour nap isn’t very realistic at this age for a lot of Lo’s they need less sleep than they did when younger.

If I put my son to bed at 7 he’d be up at 430 😅 x

thank you. This is what I thought and I trialled cutting naps and later bedtimes for a few weeks but nothing is working 😭

Avatar

How much did you cut the nap by/ push the bedtime? Was it consistent every day? Can take a while for their circadian rhythm to reset but sleep is a real minefield!

Some LO’s are also just naturally early risers. What time did they used to wake?

My baby is same she wakes up at 6 and we still have to do 2 naps because I can’t keep her up from 4pm till 8 without a sleep

Avatar

My little girl is the same she has one nap which is an hour long and bedtime is 7/7:30 and is awake by 6:30 most mornings

Avatar

I’ve tried 1.5 hours before and pushed the bedtime back by 30 mins to 7:30/8ish. It’s always varied but I would say he roughly used to wake up around 6:45 and now’s it’s closer to 5/6am 😭

Help! First time mum -

I have a 4 month old and now all of a sudden when he’s been asleep for 1hr30/2hrs he will wake up screaming (high pitched) I’ve tried winding him sometimes that helps, I’ve tried bicycle legs & bringing his knees up but that doesn’t seem to help but he brings his knees up himself sometimes but nothing happens. I’ve noticed since the 4 month mark he has started to struggle passing wind downwards! Any tips?

Big nursing bras!

I’m looking for recommendations for good nursing bras for bigger breasted ladies!

I’m currently in a 38H which seems to be the biggest size done at M&S (UK based mama here) and it’s snug and not as supportive as I’d like. When I look online, they mainly seem to be sized S, M, L, XL etc rather than bra sizes.

Any recommendations please?

Crying during feeding

Hey mams! My girl is 6 weeks on Monday and is having so much trouble with feeding. It doesn’t happen every feed but more often than not she will start a bottle and just start crying as if she’s in pain and she can’t take the milk. I think it’s trapped wind but I genuinely don’t know what to do it’s so pitiful to see her not be able to feed! She’s formula fed and on HiPP Organic.
Anyone else been in this position? I’m pretty sure it’s just a bit of trapped wind that she needs to fart out but can’t! If anyone has any advice I’d be very grateful as I think I may need to tape my eyelids open soon 😂
