Planned C section, when do they normally book it for, before due date? After? On?

I’m not due yet until December and I’ve previously opted for one after my induction but it wasn’t quite planned. I’m just curious to know if you had a planned section, what date did they book you in for around your due date?

My OB will schedule no earlier than 39 weeks. I requested my date and I got a call a week later confirming time and date. My due date is July 20th but I scheduled for July 16th.

My obgyn told me we aren't even going to discuss further plans for a csection unless i am at least 32 weeks

we booked at 11 weeks ..

I think it depends on why you’re having the c section, I’m having one but I’m also diabetic so it was booked in around 30 weeks to prioritise me in the list for 38 weeks, but I know others who have opted for one as preference who didn’t get one till much later around 39 weeks

Mine was originally booked for my due date but he had other plans I went almost a month early with an emergency C-section

My last one was done at 39 weeks

I’ve been told a lot of the NHS trusts are so busy with sections now that they’re often not being booked until 40 weeks! Used to be pre booked in advance but I’ve been told to expect a call the week before or week of the surgery to book it in 😵‍💫

I'm type 1 diabetic so we knew I wasn't allowed past 38weeks, but then he was breech and I had really high blood pressure so they booked my cesarean on Thursday for that Saturday. No notice really, we were hoping he'd flip but no go.

We didn’t get a phone call until a week before, was supposed to get it on a thrrusday and baby girl was due Saturday. When I went for my pre op on the Tuesday they said it’s now going to be the Friday so was one day before she was due and I ended up going into labour on the Wednesday 3 days before she was due. I did end up labouring but was still able to get my C-section just had to push for it.

I was told when I first opted for a section that we’d be given a date that fell at some between 38 - 39+2 weeks. We then found at about 33 weeks via phone call. I was booked in for 38 weeks exactly!

I was booked in at 16 weeks due to complications from my emergency c-section with my first... I've been on consultant care my entire second pregnancy because of it. I was given the week I turned 39 weeks as the estimate, and when I turned 34 weeks, I was given my date and timings for the c-section. I'll be 39+4 🙂 from my understanding. Most planned c-sections take place during the 39th week, unless you are high risk. You can ask for a c-section at any point as well, even if your original birth plan was to push.

i got booked in for the day before my due date

Mine is a week before my due date

They normally book it sometime in the 39th week of pregnancy on the NHS. When exactly will depend on availability at your hospital. My csection was booked for 39+3.

I've been told all electives are booked in for between 38+5 and 39+5 weeks at my chosen hospital.

A week before due date

Thank you all. It looks like the booking might happen later on, but I just wanted to mention that I haemorrhaged during my last C-section and lost a significant amount of blood. I also had low iron levels before, so I’m assuming I’ll need an iron transfusion this time. Do you think this could speed things up, or will I likely still be booked in at the same time, just with the transfusion arranged earlier?

They usually do planned c-section at 39 weeks

Avatar

Mine was scheduled for after my due date

Avatar

I was 39+2 and was having an elective from the start x

Week when you go too 39 weeks. Booked in 1 week before.

Avatar

They usually book 2 weeks ahead

I was high risk for high blood pressure and an auto immune disease. I had both my boys at 37 weeks. Go with your doctor's suggestion that knows your health history.

Finding out gender

Has anyone found out the gender at a private scan at 14 weeks? And has this been accurate?

I found out at 17 with my first but I know a scan place that offers from 14/15 weeks and I’m impatient 😂🥲

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?

Induction or c section?

As a last resort, would you rather be induced or have a planned c section?

Really not liking the thought of being induced from people’s experiences I’ve read!
