Is Eddie a cute nickname for a little girl?

I’ve gone incognito cause I don’t post my daughter or her name on socials, but her full name is Edith after my grandmother. We were using Edie as a nickname.

But since she started talking, she pronounces her own name as Eddie. My husband and I started using Eddie too, but my MIL keeps side-eying us every time we say it and a couple people at the park have assumed she’s a boy. A little boy also said to us that Eddie is a boy’s name when he overheard me talking to her.

Part of me thinks it’s cute, part of me is reminded of this annoying boy I went to school with called Eddy 😂

So I can’t decide if I like it or not! She’s only 2 so it’s not like she only responds to Eddie, we use Eddie, Edie and Edith (and Duck/Duckie/Duckling but that’s a whole other story!)

Also if it’s not clear, short E in Eddie (eh-dee), long E in Edie (ee-dee)

I think Eddie is really fun but I would probably stick to Edie personally, as I just think about Edina Monsoon on Absolutely Fabulous who went by Eddie!

Names and nicknames evolve as children grow. My cousin Benjamin introduced himself as Benjinson for many years and his mum still calls him that every now and then.

Makes me think of Ab Fab, but I think it’s really cute!

I had forgotten that, might actually make me like Eddie more 😆

It’s cute but I much prefer the pronunciation of Eadie just cause I think it’s super sweet! X

I knew a winifred that went by freddie

I love it.

Try to keep calling her Edith and she would get over time, yeah Eddie is a boys name and can lead to bullying later on

A name will stick if it’s what you use no matter what, the older she gets it won’t seem like a “boy name” she’ll just be known as Eddie!
I got the nickname Ed or Eddie because my initials were E.D at first I also thought “kinda boyish” but then it stuck and I ended up just going with it!

I love Eddie for a girl! I always wanted to name my future daughter Eddie or Edison because I love it so much. But my grandma named her damn dog Eddie so it doesn’t feel right for me anymore. I’d get too much backlash from my family. Since my husband loves the name Violet, it’s grown on me to use at a future daughter’s name so I could nickname her Ettie.

I don't think it's bad but my son is Eddie so it's not a girlie name for me lol! I think Edie is way cuter for a girl as well so I wouldn't want to stray from that but if she likes when she's older then I guess it works. My eldest couldn't say Eddie and used to pronounce it like Addie so that used to confuse people when she told them her brother's name 😂

that’s annoying! But I love Violet and Ettie, that’s so cute!

my son is Edison 🥰

Aw my baby’s name is Eden after her great grandma Edith, we were going to call her Edie for short like her grandma but I never thought that she might choose something completely different like Eddie 🤣

Hospital bag (UK)

What did everyone pack for their section? I'm staying in for 3 days due to mental health, not really sure what I'll need to bring, feeling very nervous. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Pregnancy after c section

What time scale did everyone get pregnant again after a c section?
I know the doc said they recommend eating at least a year to 18 months but it took 4 years to get pregnant the first time after being told we could not conceive naturally so not wanting to stop it happening knowing it could take a very long time again but also worried.

Labour

Think im a bit confused really, i went into traige as was having contractions eveey 3-5mins. Since being here im now having them every 2-3mins which was confirmed with the machine and i think the toco was 90-100 and they feel painful and my lower back is in loads of pain but apparently im only just over 2cm dilated maybe, she has said i can stay here for a bit longer to see if things progress as had a previous quick birth as well but i dont understand why the pains are coming this quick if im only 2cm dilated and feel a bit deflated from it also.

I had a sweep this morning also.

C section trauma ?

Is it a thing to be traumatised by a c section delivery? I’m 4 weeks pp after having an emergency c section. I won’t go into the ins and outs to what got me there 😂
Nothing went wrong in the surgery at all, it was just incredibly intense, overwhelming and scary, but luckily my baby was delivered safe!
However I’m finding my birth experience quite difficult to even think about and when I do, I feel a horrid gut wrenching feeling, my heart aches and I just uncontrollably cry! My body feels really alien to me, like it’s not my own and I just feel really let down.
