Hospital bag (UK)

What did everyone pack for their section? I'm staying in for 3 days due to mental health, not really sure what I'll need to bring, feeling very nervous. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

I would definitely recommend a decent hand held fan! It was a life saver for me!

Honestly, I overpacked the first time. All this c section recovery things. I've got my second one in April. The main things I will bring is huge pyjamas, huge underwear (not c section underwear) as they were wayyy to tight on me and some sliders. My hospital said I couldn't shower for 5 days so I just bought mini face wash, toothpaste and deodorant to freshen up after my c section. I honestly didn't go through my hospital bag at all apart from these things. I would say I heard peppermint tea for trapped wind but I never had any the first time xxx

Oh a long phone charger lead!! Xx

i over packed i personally didn’t really use much. i recommend a good hand held fan as it gets HOT and a long charger. a button up nighty as youll still have the catheter for abit etc , huge pjs so your comfy and underwear. peppermint chewing gum (or anything peppermint )really helped me with trapped wind. best thing i did was put my hair in french braids so i dont have it bothering me:)

I overpacked and hardly used anything, what i did use was the usual toiletries like body wash, a soft flannel, toothpaste, toothbrush, hairbrush and face wipes. A night gown because itll help keep cool, a dressing gown for when going to the toilet to cover up more, sliders, i used adult nappies as they were easier on the incision at first compared to pants, a water bottle because the fountains seem so far from the bays, squash to put into the water bottle for some added sugar and snacks for when I couldn't sleep and the food offerings werent the greatest.

I packed a lot more but didnt touch anything else.

BIG undies!! Over the belly button type that's way too big. Trust me.

Hugh knickers!! I’m a 10-12 and went for size 16 full briefs. I found the lilets maternity pads good and also the always silhouette disposable pants (black ones). I took my own pillow and a blanket/throw just made me feel more relaxed and I used the blanket once we cane out of theatre. Make a playlist and you can have this playing in theatre. My theatre team just let me play it on my phone near the top of the bed. A portable night light as the lighting at night isn’t great.

I had a really positive experience both times when I had my C section and I do look back fondly of them. There’s something so special about it just being you and your baby on that first night (also hard)

Good luck xx

A portable phone charger so that even if the plug socket is far away you can comfortably use your phone whilst it’s plugged in! Even a long lead wouldn’t have been much use as the plug socket was miles from my bed!
Several pairs of big comfy pjs, lots of comfy underwear, I personally loved the frida mom shorts with a maternity pad in them. You don’t need half the crack you think you will, but focus on things to keep you comfy and cool, hand held fan is a great idea! X

And extension lead to connect various chargers. A mini lamp because at night when you feed your baby, you might not want that bright cubicle light. A nursing pillow which was great for breastfeeding but also as a comfy pillow to rest on. I used frida c section disposable undies and they gave me skin reaction, so I didn’t find them very comfy. I had to stay more nights I anticipated so I would bring a few nighties. Snacks and iPad

High waisted knickers, comfy pjs/nightie, long phone charger, anything you can bring to help you trump because the trapped wind is so painful!😬 big pads! Snacks/drinks! But one thing I stress is KEEP TAKING PAINKILLERS WHEN IT’S TIME! & TRY TO RELAX WHEN YOU CAN!!
Also get a cushion to put over stomach when you cough, laugh or sneeze!
Good luck!🤞🏼 👶🏼

On top of all the above, Peppermint tea bags and lactulose to help with the trapped gas and first poop

Hip cramps & pain at night - 23weeks (have had it for ages)

Although it might be a normal symptom for pregnancy, I haven’t slept properly in what feels like months now. I eat a banana a day, drink as much water I can, and use magnesium body butter at night. Can anyone recommend something that worked for them? I have been looking at Oshun magnesium and/or electrolytes that I can add to water but remember my midwife telling me not to take electrolytes/extra. Any advice welcome, I just wanted to sleep without the constant “left, right, left, right…” Sometimes up at 3/4am and still working full-time teaching maths so really struggling. 🙏🏼

Pregnancy after C-section

I’m 5.5 weeks pregnant. I had a C section with my last baby almost 4 years ago. Did anyone else experience more cramps with activity in their pregnancies after having had a C-section? I’m thinking it might be due to scar tissue? I’m really worried bc the pain is pretty intense. Any and all feedback is welcome! The doctor is no help

C-section help please 🙏

Hi everyone !
I had my appointment yesterday 38+5 weeks which went abit sideways to say the least 🙈
I was meant to be getting induced next week but little man has apparently jumped from 8lbs 6 to nearly 11pounds in 2 weeks (no gestational diabetes)
I got told I had to have a C-section instead now and have never had one so am flapping like a headless chicken 😂 what essentials did you all need / wish you had after a C-section please 🙏 any tips welcome as I’m currently just a blubbering mess as it wasn’t how was planned 😂😂
