I’ve heard lots of people say there were checked due to similar contractions, and then suddenly jumped to 10cm! So may be that will be the case for you. I was having quite intense contractions that were about 1 in 7, sometimes 1 in 5. Went into triage in the night and was 2cm. The contractions didn’t really get much stronger, only closer together and then when I went back at 7am I was 9cm and had him at 7:45am! I think it’s really not linear in many cases! If you’re feeling intense I would stay in, especially if your first was fast and you have felt it before!

With my first I was in a similar situation and then shot up to 5cm dialated and then continued to dilate throughout the night on an epidural which slowed it down a bit but I would stay for a bit longer if it makes you feel more comfortable! X

I had intense contractions lasting 60-90seconds 3 in 10 minutes and my cervix was 1cm, baby was born 4hrs later. That was my first labour. Second time, I didn’t have cervical checks because the number threw me off so much the first time. Your dilation can change quickly! Go with how you feel. Although, I must say that I would not have been able to write a text or write a question on here at that point as the contractions were pretty intense and I was very much in it!

I was induced and was getting 5 contractions in 10 mins. I went from 2-4cm very quickly and once they broke the waters I went from 4-10 in 30 mins

If they can check how many cm you are now
I wouldn’t be surprised if you go from 2 to 10 super quickly

This was me on Monday, 10am I was 2 cm with painful and very close together contractions, we decided to do a sweep and for me to stay in, by 2pm I was 10cm and 3pm baby boy was here

She was born at 6.20am, im so glad i stayed in to check
