Milton cold water steriliser.

Without sounding real dumb how does it work? Once they’re sterile do you just take them out and let them dry off?
We used to sterilise mam bottles in the microwave so having an actual steriliser will be new to us and trying to decide what to go for!😂

You take them out and can use them straight away , no need to dry or rinse they’ll become unsterile , love the cold water steriliser

You can just leave them in the water until needed within 24 hours or take them out, put them somewhere clean to air dry, we have a plastic Tupperware we put them in if it needs to dry like pump flanges, I don’t like them on me wet

Avatar

The idea of taking something out to use instantly and it’s just wet is throwing me off😂

Avatar

I let mine air dry on a little bottle rack

Avatar

I thought the exact same because I think it smells chemically, surely you can't use it straight away wet😩

Avatar

do you not use the man bottles wet from microwave? You’re not supposed to dry those either

Avatar

I did with my son because we were living with my in laws and no we didn’t dry them because that was only a tiny bit of water in the bottom.. not fully submerged in water making the whole thing wet inside and out…
We don’t own a microwave we have no need for it and I don’t plan on buying one just to sterilise MAM bottles for a year🤷🏼‍♀️

It’s sterile water so you can use it wet

Avatar

mine are covered in water inside after sterilising, I think it is unavoidable using any method

Avatar

Guys I’m not talking about inside I know it’s sterile and it’s going to be wet😂, I’m talking about outside you all just holding wet bottles? No air drying? No towel drying the outside? Call me thick but it’s not adding up🤣

Avatar

you can use kitchen towel to dry the outside. Just take it out of the steriliser and shake off the excess water, make up the bottle, and then dry the outside

Avatar

okay okay cool!😂 thank you!

I leave mine on a draining board to dry, I wipe it down first with a Milton wipe and make sure it’s clean. Generally It doesn’t overly matter if the bottles are “sterile” before use as you sterilise to get rid of old bacteria x

Avatar

I used a bottle rack to let them air dry, I know it’s not needed but I preferred doing that. I’ll be doing the same this time around (pregnant with my 2nd). I love the Milton it’s so easy and simple!

Avatar

I think you have to wait 10 minutes once you’ve taken them out
To use them. I just shake off as much as I can and usually the rest just dries off by the time I need to use x

Avatar

But you have to screw them together as soon as you’ve taken them out for them to stay sterile I believe x

Avatar

But saying that, the hot water that you’ll put in with sterilise it anyway😂

Avatar

So we used this on holiday and it was perfect. Washed the bottles then let them soak in the sterile water for up to 24 hrs then took them out to air dry just because I didn't feel like using them wet but at the same time it wouldn't have been a problem.

Avatar

I use the cold steriliser, it’s amazing really takes a lot of work out of things as you can use the same water for 24hrs. It does smell chemically so I recommend having something to dry them on that’s also sterile like a wee bottle rack that you maybe clean with boiling water before you pop things on to dry x

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.
