“Extra thick” are they microfibre?? Microfibre is not the best inserts for overnight, they absorb quick but when pressed on, or lied on, as babies do when they sleep, will cause compression leaks or if the vest is too tight. Change to all cotton or all bamboo or even hemp. The inserts that come w generic brand diapers are usually only 2 outer layers of bamboo with the inner layers microfibre. Maybe that’s what’s happening here w the baby- it’s causing compression leaks due to the inserts being microfibre even though they are “thick” - thick is not always better

And some mums put a wool cover over the cloth diaper to soak in any leaks, which won’t get any pjs wet. Look for used ones on FB marketplace
