Any suggestions about using this and how to make it less painful? Trying to avoid pitocin but I hear mixed reviews on the balloon. 39+3 and not yet dilated so getting nervous about induction!

I got Tylenol in an IV and walked around with an ice pack on my belly… still was very painful but I found that that helped me!

I had the balloon for my induction on the 2nd and didn’t find it that painful! It definitely wasn’t comfortable going in, but I didn’t find it painful. I was barely 1cm when it went in.

did you still need pitocin?

did you still need pitocin?

I did :(

they put it on the lowest setting for barely an hour until they realized I didn’t actually need it.

I got induced on the 2nd the balloon is pretty painful but nothing compares to those pitocin contractions but again I went all natural with no pain meds

I’ve heard that pitocin works better at induction than the balloon

I asked and I was told no, just get the pitocin. Lol

had the foley with my second just a week ago and it hurt a little going in but then i didn’t even really notice it or feel it when it fell out. had it put in at 2pm it fell out at 9pm and labor started at 2am i was only 1cm when i had it put in

Thanks ladies! Very helpful! 🫶

literally same! the balloon really didn’t hurt and i was actually quite comfortable! i did have the pitocin, and i didn’t really feel the pain until they upped the medicine to 16, and they did a membrane sweep and broke my water. my labor was 32hrs and i went from 5-10 centimeters within maybe 1hr and a half then pushed for 30mins!! i ended up having my little girl July 4th!

but i also would say if you want to try anything, relaxing or trying to relax will definitely help. i cant tell you how you’ll feel when getting it because every body is different, but relaxing helps a lot!

I got mine after the epidural

Pitocin isn't as bad as it can be for some, I just had mild cramping and alot of cravings, it almost seemed like my cravings increased once I was induced. I've never used the balloon but I can only imagine having something being inflated inside of me wouldn't be too pleasant I don't think, but that's just a personal opinion of someone who's never had it and doesn't actually know.

thanks so much ladies! Yeah so many different experiences it’s hard to decide what to do but relaxing either way as hard as it may is key! Thanks again for your input! ❤️
