Struggling with pregnancy 😒

I feel so conflicted writing this post. I'm pregnant after a long fertility journey but have been through the mill suffering from hyperemesis!

Unfortunately before becoming pregnant I suffered with Adenomyosis and Endometriosis for decades and needed fertility treatment. After a few cycles, I'm finally pregnant. Currently 20+ weeks.
I feel so down because now it just feels like I'm trapped by pregnancy sickness. I'm on antisickness meds but each day it's hard to not be sick doing the things I took for granted/simple tasks like brushing my teeth, drinking water, watching TV. Everything feels like a chore and I have to take daily blood thinner injections due to risks.

I'm just so deflated and often crying with lack of motivation and frustration. Everyone keeps telling me it will be worth it when you hold your baby in your arms. Yet, it's now that is hard with months to go!

I'm a very resilient person yet this is negatively impacting my mental health and wellbeing. Honestly had thoughts about life not being worth living how it it! That scares me 😔

I'm pretty isolated too as not able to socialise going for meals, drinks and nights out now I'm pregnant. Most of my close friends don't live in the same city as me and my family are not the socialising/visiting type. Mostly busy with their own families.

Usually I'm such a active and independent person. So, now not being able to work and being at home sick is depleting the little energy I can muster.

I feel guilty because I after issues ttc, I so wanted to be pregnant but feels like it's robbing me of my joy. Most days I wake up feeling frustrated and depressed. I've been in and out of hospital due to hyperemesis and I'm struggling to feel positive and don't know how much longer I can go on like this?

Thanks for reading x

Ahhh, I HEAR you, I was so unwell too and it stopped me doing all the things I loved, and seeing people who I loved seeing so it made me feel really lonely. And it feels like it's going to be like this forever (I promise you it isn't, even though I totally get that it feels like it). It's so so awful isn't it. A miserable, miserable existence and nor great for feeling positive about baby at all. I've wondered if it's a massive evolutionary flaw as I started to really resent the babe in some ways. All I can say is I'm 23 weeks now and feeling better, started buying little baby grows to try and get a feeling for beyond this time and going to pregnancy yoga to meet people who were also feeling blergh. Good luck but yes, I know the feelings and they are UNDERSTANDABLE completely. Why would you be feeling emotionally positive when you feel so physically awful? Sending loads of love and solidarity x

Thank you, glad that you felt better after 23 weeks. It's the not knowing when it will subside. Though I'm fighting to stay positive ❤️

Thank you, yeah people expect me to be excited. Though I am grateful, most days are spent at home feeling unwell taking meds.

I'm praying to feel well enough to get out. Before HG I worked from home and now I am off because of HG.

I'm not with my baby's dad. We are in touch but he doesn't get how I feel trapped at home day in day out. Just want brighter days that don't revolve around managing symptoms ❤️

It would be great to chat x

That's what I'm worried about resenting the baby I wanted so much!

How did you spend your days when you were sick?

I’m so sorry you’re going through this, your thoughts are completely valid this is my second HG pregnancy and honestly it puts you in such a dark place not knowing when it will end. I’m 24 weeks and with the medication it’s finally starting to only feel like morning sickness the days are long!
It’s really taken a toll on my mental health, I’ve started to try and write down something I was thankful for each day to cling on to
I can say though that as soon as your baby is born and the symptoms go away it’s a massive relief and my bond wasn’t effected but the trauma from going through this is something else
I’ve spent so much time in bed watching Netflix
Try be kind to yourself

Thanks, glad that you're doing better and it didn't affect your bond.
It's the isolation too that becomes overwhelming. Not being able to go out because of symptoms. So, trying to have a routine is difficult!

Are you able to get out most days. I guess with a little one already you don't have much choice.

Yes I spent months barely leaving the house I try to either got for a walk or a little drive to the shops and sit in the car if I feel poorly, I ordered a portable sick bag off Amazon and either would make it back to my car or be sick in a dog poop bag
I’d definitely suggest speaking to your midwife I raised my concerns to my doctor and they put me forward for a mental health assessment and you get more support
I really hope it starts to ease for you soon, I’d also suggest speaking to your doctor about other medication options I tried a few before I found one that worked for me x

Thanks very much. I've asked to be referred to the Perinatal Mental Health team and contacted a service for counselling.
Definitely need more support to get through it and the dark days. Praying it eases up sooner rather than later!❤️

Rant and rage

I'm not coping and don't feel supported in the way I need. I try and voice how I feel and I get met with silence and huffs and puffs
My son has problems feeding and gaining weight yet my mil insists on holding and comforting him rather than listening to me saying I should try feed him or change him. I get ignored. Same with my toddler she will continue to give her treats when I say no as 1 was enough and doesn't need 3 of somthing. I feel pushed out and not respected
I'm finding it hard very hard

Honest question

Do you ever place your baby on their front to go to sleep? I’m talking 7+ months. Especially if you know they will sleep better and longer?

Weaning

Started weaning my son today, he was 6months on Friday. I tried broccoli blended & a piece of broccoli- he had a few mouthfuls and it seemed positive that he liked it but he did gag a couple of times then projectile vomitted, I’m assuming this is because his stomach is still sensitive etc, he wanted more afterwards so had 2 more little mouthfuls but then I called it a day. Has anyone else experienced this?

What time does everyone put their little ones to bed?

My daughter is nearly 4 and a half months, 6 bottles a day and she has 6oz every 4 hours roughly.

My problem is she fights her sleep and has done since birth (even though we are in the middle of the regression at the moment 🙃) she doesn't go down for the night until half 9, sometimes 10pm.

I know this is not ideal at all but my first daughter who is now 2 was such an easy baby compared to her. Once shes down for the night, she sleeps for 8/9 hours a night but getting her to go down is a nightmare

Also in the day shes a cat napper. My first daughter just went down to bed and stayed asleep
