Tips for hiding your first trimester symptoms at work?

I’m currently around 6 weeks pregnant and I’m not sure I’ve ever felt so tired in my life! I feel exhausted 24/7 and I’ve started feeling very nauseous when I sit down to eat, which isn’t great when my team all sit and have lunch together…

With my first I cracked, I told my manager the day after I found out (I’m lucky that she’s amazing) and I worked from home for a huge chunk of the first trimester, she told my colleagues that I had health issues with my tummy, etc (my first trimester I was so unwell I was in hospital on a drip). There was gossip and people messaging me, but it was all temporary and once I could tell them the truth, they got it and understood. I imagine it wouldn’t be this easy in other companies though! x

Lots of fluids! Eat some crackers before the lunch to settle stomach beforehand

Sparkling water saved my life - just little sips helped a lot

Oh that’s so good, I’m wondering if I should speak to my manager as I’ve felt absolutely awful today 😢 x

I really think it’s totally up to you and based on your relationship with your manager! For me, if anything bad happened then I would have wanted her support anyway. I’m the worst person at lying so it was well needed 🤣 bless you, I feel you. I’m just over 7w pregnant and not in a great way. Good luck angel x

My manager was actually the first person I told about being pregnant, we’re good friends anyway so I didn’t feel weird telling her before my own family but I was so sick that I thought it was best that at least she knew. I ended up having quite a few days off work and really struggled with the tiredness too. The GP did offer to sign me off work for the first trimester because of the morning sickness and I really wish I’d done that because I really really struggled and had to keep sneaking away to throw up 😬
When I eventually told the rest of my work friends, they all said they had suspicions because of the days off sick and I wasn’t eating much at lunch so clearly I didn’t manage to hide my symptoms very well 🙈

Tbh. It depends on what work is like but I told my manager 2 days after I found out. I was about 5 weeks. My nausea was awful and it really helped that I told them. It meant I had support when things got difficult, I had support to change my hours.
I was late once because I couldn't get out of the bathroom for throwing up and nothing was said when I explained.

It depends how you manage but nothing worked for my sickness other than medication and the exhaustion was unmanageable because I had a 3 year old step son living with me full time and worked until 11pm and night shifts.

They changed my shifts so the latest I finished was 8pm and I was immediately taken off night shifts. All while keeping it confidential. So absolutely worth talking to them!

Friends wedding abroad

Hi all. I know this is FTM... But really need advice. I am currently pregnant with baby #2. Only 8 weeks. I didn't want to tell anyone yet, my partner and boss knows (needed for risk assessment reasons annoyingly). My friend is getting married in a remote part of Spain in ~3 months. I've already had a few minor complications, pain, bleeding, vanishing twin... I got preeclampsia last pregnancy and a terrible birth.
I am pretty sure I don't feel comfortable flying and then travelling out to a remote part of Spain during pregnancy. It will just be me and my toddler. I know it's overcautious but I just don't feel comfortable. I'm not even sure if I am going to be classified as high risk pregnancy or not.
How do I handle this? I need to tell her ASAP, but I didn't really want to tell anyone yet as doc told me miscarriage risk is a bit increased with vanishing twin. Any ideas?

Anxious/depressed

My first pregnancy symptom was my anxiety out of nowhere. I feel like I'm a bundle of nerves and just so scared of everything. Is anyone else feeling similar? How are you managing? Are we contributing it to hormones?
