Eczema theory
I have a theory on infancy eczema. Everyone knows uk babies have been experiencing a growing rate of eczema in babies and more so in boys over girls. I understand and want to emphasise that there are many factors for eczema such as environmental, genetic, skin conditions etc. However i have a running theory and thought I'd bring it here to hear other people's thoughts and experiences. I have 2 boys with eczema and 1 thing i noticed straight away was that the eczema covers exactly where I used coconut oil on them...like the exact locations. I have spoken to other mums who mentioned they also used oils with their newborns too. I dont have much else to go off other than this plus ofcourse all the other triggers. But genuinely I think it is and I now recommend new parents to only use johnsons baby oil if needed. So far their little ones dont have eczema. And again, i totally get it that it could be that it didnt make a difference to them anyway. But in my opinion I do belive so. ...

There's issues with Johnson's being linked to cancer due to the ingredients? I think it may be the talcum powder, but it is a worry what else is in Johnsons xx
We dont use anything like oils or powders but my daughter has eczema
My son has eczema and both myself and his Father have had childhood eczema and allergies on my side.
I personally wouldn’t use any Johnson’s on my baby due to the cancer link.
We initially used steroids but have weaned baby off and are using natural remedies such as Shea Butter, Neem Oil and other natural products.
We have never used any oil on our LG as she's got sensitive skin & she does have eczema in some places.
My husband grew up in a culture where they slather babies in oil after a bath (he still puts coconut oil on his hair) so not using it on her was new to him.
As others have said, genetics can play a role. I had eczema (still have sensitive skin and allergies to certain ingredients in skincare) so we assumed she may develop it so have always used eczema friendly products
Mu little boy started to look like he was getting eczema on his belly and I tried a number of things but nothing helped until I used coconut oil. The coconut oil cleared it straight away and has kept it away. 6months now.
I believe eczema is related to the gut biome - which could have been affected at birth due to multiple reasons eg. C section/antibiotics etc.
I’ve used olive oil and coconut oil on my girl and no skin problems here x
My daughter had milk allergy but she has realy good skin I think she grown out allergy to now. I got eczema and when I asked doctors about using creams for my baby she told do not use nothing if she not needed. So I only wash her with boots make coconut stuff or mustela and never use cream just nappie rash cream .and she has great skin
