Newborn survival hamper

When you and partner were home with your first newborn what could you have really done with? Deliveroo and uber eats vouchers etc what else did you really want/need? A friend has just had a baby girl, planning to drop it on doorstep!

I’m expecting so I wouldn’t know yet. What stuff/gifts were you really grateful you had?

If you can, homemade food batches that they can freeze and just warm and eat.. I got soo much coffee when i had my first and it was great. Some treats that they like. But I would say food is always a welcome thing because the days are all a blur and having food ready was a blessing not need to think about it

No idea on how good they are for you but I went through multi packs of lucozade! Also if breastfeeding my Stanley cup was amazing - I know any brand that keeps it cold would be great. Also helps with those hormonal hot flushes!
Also cereal bars for late night snacks especially when breastfeeding! I’ve heard oats are supposed to be good for upping supply.
Maybe some big oven cook ready meals like cottage pies/pasta bakes they can use when needed.
☺️ the delivery vouchers are a great idea too!

Home cooked meals and snacks ❤️

Same as above, snacks and/or microwaveable meals. In those early days you just want quick meals and to rest. I’d say for mum you could do some gifts like a face mask, pads, maybe some bath salts (if she has a bath, and check they are safe for post natal). For baby we used a lot of muslin cloths (we had them all over the house and in every bag) x

Cook meal voucher would be good too. Some areas don't have Uber eats and deliveroo and on our area the only take away meals we can get are the usual Indian/ Chinese.

They do well made nice ready meals, order online, frozen. Not the cheapest but very good 👍🏻

You sound a good friend - I’d recommend some sort of take away voucher, a home made voucher for them to call you when they feel that bit lonely/struggling with mum life, box of chocolate (or 20 - I craved it!), the offer to watch baby so she can bath. Reassurance texts to say she’s looking fab and doing a good job.
Cooking was not desirable, and having the time for self care was impossible. So those bits!

COOK vouchers were awesome, plus a friend dropped off a box of food and I especially loved the fruit juice, fresh fruit from the farmers market, snack bars and FUEL Granola. Chocolate is always a winner too.

Reduced Movements

Has anyone else gone in for monitoring for reduced movements and as soon as you arrive at triage the baby starts moving and the CTG is normal? It makes me feel like I am over reacting.

Hospital bag (UK)

What did everyone pack for their section? I'm staying in for 3 days due to mental health, not really sure what I'll need to bring, feeling very nervous. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Pregnancy after c section

What time scale did everyone get pregnant again after a c section?
I know the doc said they recommend eating at least a year to 18 months but it took 4 years to get pregnant the first time after being told we could not conceive naturally so not wanting to stop it happening knowing it could take a very long time again but also worried.

Labour

Think im a bit confused really, i went into traige as was having contractions eveey 3-5mins. Since being here im now having them every 2-3mins which was confirmed with the machine and i think the toco was 90-100 and they feel painful and my lower back is in loads of pain but apparently im only just over 2cm dilated maybe, she has said i can stay here for a bit longer to see if things progress as had a previous quick birth as well but i dont understand why the pains are coming this quick if im only 2cm dilated and feel a bit deflated from it also.

I had a sweep this morning also.

Newborn stage

Is anyone tired of doing the same thing everyday and being on a 2-3 hour schedule? It’s the same everyday and I feel like I’m losing my mind. It’s making me depressed even if I get out once a day. When does it get better? I feel like I’m just waiting for the next stage where it’s not just sitting around all day.
