Hell be in more pain for daiper changes but im unsure since my son got it done at 4 months for similar reasons

was your son really fussy afterwards until it healed or did he only seem bothered when you changed his diaper?

Doubtful. My twins had theirs done 2 days after birth and had to get them revised at around 3 months. I think by 6 months they can localize pain more. 4 weeks should be fine

My son was about 4 weeks old. We gave him Tylenol once right after the procedure and once that night as a precaution. He was fine, no obvious pain. We kept Aquaphor slathered in his diaper (get a butt spatula if you don't have one already) and kept up with his medicated ointment on the procedure area as directed. He's 4 months old now and he's healed up great.

My youngest son they made wait until he was 10+ months or 1 year i can't exactly remember. i believe he had more pain then he would've had if it was done after birth. It wasn't unbearable according to how he handled it though.

My son had to wait 6 weeks I think and it didn’t seem to bother him at all. During the procedure itself he was more pissed his bottle ran out 🙃

I work as a nurse that takes care of babies after these surgeries (months after birth) and they are typically fussy in that initial healing period but for the most part they do really well! Depends on the surgeon but they typically numb that area pretty well and they have the parents alternate pain medication!

My son isn’t cut and has had no issues with it. I feel like people who let their kid get an injection are lazy because in 2 years my son never got one and is always kept clean. Same with my brothers and my nephews. I had a talk about it with my sisters and mom because I didn’t know what I wanted but no one has ever had an infection but idk that’s just me. He knows exactly how to clean it to at 2 and if you teach them to keep themselves clean it won’t be an issue

I mean is there a specific reason you want it done? I think at this point since he might be in more pain just decide not to get it instead

As long as you keep petroleum or aquaphor on it with a gauze so it doesn’t adhere to the diaper he shouldn’t have much pain.

Our son got his done around 2-3 weeks I think, they numbed the area he showed 0 signs of paid and discomfort

My son got his done at 3 months ( hospital didn't feel safe with kids kidney issues but after being cleared the peds gave me a run around)

took 2 weeks to fully heal 6 weeks to stop needing the Vaseline.
We started using less around 4 weeks and completely stopped around 6 1/2 7 weeks.

Wait, this is actually something that’s gets done without any medical reason for it?
