Mounjaro after c section

Advise to start munjaro after 2 weeks of a c section.

I cannot find any reason to not take it this soon after surgery.

So if anyone knows why I wouldn’t take it please tell me as I can’t see any information why it wouldn’t be good?

Thank you

It’s not good because there’s literally no research on how you would react to it so soon after major surgery. Mounjaro is mainly used as a treatment for people with diabetes however with recent research it’s shown to help with weight loss which is why people go down different avenues to get a hold of it. Personally 2 weeks post op and having a small child it’s not worth the risk when it is so unknown about the side effects so soon after surgery! I’d wait until at least 6 weeks and then consult with your gp. No-one on here can give you medical advice just opinions, I’d speak to your doctor.

I wouldn’t even worry about weight loss just yet, I’d definitely speak to your doctor as if you’re still on the bloood thinning injections worth asking for advice, you’re still recovering mama 🩷🩷

I think they say 6 weeks too start it after a section 🩷

My friend done mounjaro pre baby, and started again very quickly post baby around 3 weeks. And she’s now waiting to have gallbladder surgery. Doc told her it was most likely due to the mounjaro and that her organs hadn’t fully gone into place again.

my pressure if coming from I need to get back to work,

I’m low on finances due to being laid off work after 6 months because I’m pregnant.
My partner isn’t bringing in the finances we need,

I can’t get any help what so ever from the government as I’m not a resident,

I can’t go back to my job unless I’ve lost weight.

I’ve also been trying and trying to find other work and haven’t been successful

6 months is not reasonable.

I need to get back to work to earn money or I’m on the streets so the pressure is there

What sort of job requires you to lose weight before being able to go back? 🤔

I’d recommend getting a better/different job. As this is unhealthy for both your body and mind. And a dangerous road to go down.

Speak to a medical professional before you risk your wellbeing and health.

I’m guessing air hostess as there are weight limits for them?

Try calorie counting, I lost most my pre baby weight that way 🩷

Hello. Newby pharmacist here. I would not start back so soon. Your body is still healing and there’s little to no research out involving PP women.

I definitely would not recommend taking it yet if you are breastfeeding as well. Theres minimal research to show if mounjaro has the ability to affect your newborn. The medication works by decreasing your appetite and holding food into your stomach longer. I personally would be concerned that IF it is passed through your milk that it will also decrease the baby’s appetite, growth, and sugar levels. But keep in mind if you are nursing and start this med your supply will likely tank from you consuming less calories.

I second calorie counting and try eating foods that are filing but less calorie dense. If you decide to resume your shots, remember this medication doesn’t work overnight either. It still takes time for your body to still lose the weight. You may drop 1-2lbs/wk which is also very achievable by staying active and diet control.

I had a c section in April and I’ve lost 3 stone in nearly 5 months. I walk a lot with baby and do way over 10.000 steps a day. Calorie count but make sure you’re getting enough nutrition

2 months is VERY different to 2 weeks 😳😒

I started after 3months PP and everything was fine ❤️

For myself it’s not easy to just find another job, I have sent a ridiculous amount of cvs off to find another job because of my visa status I’m not as employable as other people.

Plus my job I had I can make a weeks wage in a day so to get back into that so I can spend more time with my baby is something I would prefer to do.

But due to my visa status I get no financial help from the government so I’m Litarly buggered.

Avatar

hey! Thanks for your reply! Though I am not brestfeeding if I was I certainly wouldn’t be doing it.

Calorie counting isn’t going so well due to the enormous amount of financial strain I’m under. I’m petrified of being on the streets if I don’t sort something out to get some sort of income,

I have tryed looking for work due to my visa status I can’t easily find other work.

Calorie counting isn’t going so well because I’m so depressed about not having an income and the stress that comes with it for me and my baby.

So I don’t realy have much other avenue I can think of apart from starting the jab earlier. As I can’t even exercise at this time either.

Avatar

yes I’m aware, it would be investing to loose weight now to get back into working where I can make a lot of money.

If I pace myself and loose weight slowly I’m still going to be without work untill I get to the goal weight

Mounjaro is a very expensive approach to take to losing weight if your in financial strain:
it’s not just take a jab and carry on with your weeks ahead. You need to be able to exercise first of all to ensure that your muscle mass doesn’t decrease and make any excess skin become loose. Which you’ve said you’re not able to do. And of course it’s recommended to not exercise for atleast 6-8weeks in order to heal from major abdominal surgery.
You’ve also said you’re not in a financial position to enter a calorie deficit which again you need to ensure the medication is used correctly and the weight can be lost.
A job that requires you to loose weight doesn’t sound like a healthy job for your mind or your body. And a job that earns a weeks wage for an average employee in a day doesn’t sound legal as you say you have a lot of immigration restrictions.
Please speak to a health care professional before making the decision to begin the weight loss injections

It’s just not worth the possibility of something happening to you and you having a baby. Honestly, walk as much as you can and weight will drop off.

You being here and healthy is so much better than being skinny for a quick fix

Avatar

I’m aware of all this.

I know a lot of people on the jab who have lost a shit ton of weight without exercising.

So my plan was to start the jab now and exercise when I am able to. Like get a head start kind of thing.

If you are aware it’s very hard to calorie count and eat in a calorie deficit when you’ve got a newborn.

Avatar

it’s not being skinny for a quick fix, it’s an enormous pressure to get back to work, because we are so financially under strain.

If we had a solid income I would prefer to loose weight the healthy way.

I have a little bit of money but not enough to have another 3-4 months of work.

Small head reported following 20 week scan

Has anyone else had it flagged that their baby is in the bottom 5th percentile for head size?

They said everything was fine whilst we were in the scan and then I got a phone call the next day saying that it’s on the small side and we’re being referred to a paediatric specialist at St George’s. Has anyone else had this and how did things go??

Would you bring 9 week old to a family party of 35+ people?

These are also people who will want to pass the baby around and get a turn to hold him. He just got his 2 month shots two days ago

Exercise 6 weeks after c section

What movement did people start to introduce? I won’t do anything too vigorous until I’ve seen the pelvic physio as I don’t want to compromise anything that may have been extremely weakened through pregnancy! But just wondering what types of classes/movement people started off with?

Induction experience

I just wanted to share my experience with being induced as I wasn’t sure what to expect and thought it may help others.

I opted for the foley balloon which was inserted at 8am Saturday morning, I had to stay in hospital due to hypertension and protein urine however usually you can just go home once this has been done. The insertion of the balloon was not painful, was slightly uncomfortable as there was slight pressure. I actually found having the cervix checked prior to be worse (again not painful at this point just uncomfortable) The balloon had little effect and after having it removed I was still only 1cm. Removal also was pain free and hardly even noticeable.

I then had my first dose of the gel and definitely noticed a difference, I started experiencing period like cramps almost immediately however they were light and manageable. After 6 hours I had another cervix check and although my cervix was soft it was still only 1cm and was only open at the front. I had another dose of the gel and felt an increase in pressure and more intense cramping where I now required pain relief (codeine). After another 6 hours I had another cervix check and I had now dilated to 2-3cm however was still quite difficult to get all the way through so a third gel was recommended which I agreed to.

Almost immediately I noticed the difference and was in considerable pain, I had paracetamol and codeine however the contractions had now become intense and a lot closer together (around 3 minutes apart). After a couple of hours I had my last cervix check and was 4cm and taken down to the Labour ward to have my waters broken and an epidural.

I had been in my room for approx 20minutes when my waters broke by themselves and I was now 10cm and actively pushing…. There was no time for the epidural and my beautiful girl arrived into the world within 2 minutes of pushing.

All in all I would say the cramps/contractions were manageable up until the third gel where it became pretty unbearable however it was for a very short time a gas and air helped take the edge off. The worst part about any of it was actually the later cervix checks where after stimulating the cervix my contractions were at their most painful.

If I had to be induced again I would skip the balloon and opt for the gels immediately as thy had a quicker effect and I would have been out a lot sooner if I had done this to begin with.

One more thing, I’ve never believed when people say “you forget the pain once they’re here” but I can honestly say this is true. It’s been 4 days and I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
