Talking

My little one (26th January) isn’t saying much. She will say “bowl” when she wants her ice lolly into a bowl, says our dogs name, says mamamama and daaaaa when she sees her dad. Other than that, she just moans a lot. She understands everything you say, If I ask her to put something in the bin, or go get something, she will do it.
I don’t know if I should contact my health visitor. I was looking at videos of her brother at the same age (he is now 4) and he was saying a bit more. She was 4 weeks early. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks you x

I think it is normal but if you are concerned speak with the hv

Speech isn’t a concern until they are around 3 years old. As long as they have good understanding of like simple instructions and are able to make some animals noises as well as some words then you’re fine. It’s hard not to compare children but they all develop at different paces x

Hey, my son was born five days before your daughter. He speaks gobbledegook a lot but doesn’t often use his words except ‘mama/mummy’, ‘doggy’, ‘cat’, ‘car’, and ‘more’. And yes/no. I know he has more words but he doesn’t use them very often. He pretty much just talks about dogs all the time. Nursery have said he doesn’t use many words with them other than ‘mama’ and ‘doggy’ and were excited to tell me last week that he said ‘duck’ for the first time, but he’s been saying that at home for two months. I’ve come to the conclusion that he’s just doing his own thing - talks to who he wants to talk to and uses favourite words more often. I’m sure your daughter is the same. My brother-in-law is a GP and he said the children to worry about are the ones who literally don’t make a sound at all (ie don’t even speak gibberish; he says gibberish is more important than actual words in that sense). So I wouldn’t worry as she’s still so young and she IS communicating with you. I get it though xx

Hey birthday twinn🙌 so my LB favourite words atm are yeah an dad with the big nooo🤣🤣 he knows a few others but doesn't use then often but I wouldn't say he's got a massive vocabulary at all but understands so much more they'll get there I wouldn't panic xxx

Thank you all 🥰 feeling a lot better. I did phone my HV today & she basically said that there’s nothing to worry about right now as the understanding is there. She did say that you can self refer to speech and language but said they will more than likely tell me the same thing. I think I will give it more time before worrying again. I am reading about January babies counting & things which made me think I was doing something wrong but they are all different. I appreciate your comments. Thank you 🥰 xx

Help! First time mum -

I have a 4 month old and now all of a sudden when he’s been asleep for 1hr30/2hrs he will wake up screaming (high pitched) I’ve tried winding him sometimes that helps, I’ve tried bicycle legs & bringing his knees up but that doesn’t seem to help but he brings his knees up himself sometimes but nothing happens. I’ve noticed since the 4 month mark he has started to struggle passing wind downwards! Any tips?

Breastfeeding

Does it ever feel better? The actual feeding part of it is going really well and baby boy is growing so well. I’m struggling with how my boobs feel day to day - it’s really getting me down most days. The let downs make me feel awful and sounds silly but, I am also really missing not wearing a bra! 9 weeks postpartum and still getting fairly engorged, even with comfort pumping.

Any advice or just shared stories would help. I’m so torn between carrying on because I enjoy the feeding side of it or switching to formula.

Big nursing bras!

I’m looking for recommendations for good nursing bras for bigger breasted ladies!

I’m currently in a 38H which seems to be the biggest size done at M&S (UK based mama here) and it’s snug and not as supportive as I’d like. When I look online, they mainly seem to be sized S, M, L, XL etc rather than bra sizes.

Any recommendations please?

Help! My baby is 3 and a half weeks old. Every bath she goes in quite happy but will only stay like this for a very few mins, if I try to clean her or move her we have tears and after a few mins the same. It's like she is scared. Our current baby bath is quite big should I try a different one? Looking for any suggestions as want her to enjoy bath time not be upset and I'm scared I'm going to make her hate it😢💗

Strange question

Hello. I would identify myself as asexual but yes i am married and i have a child. But now that ive had my baby. I think its solidified that im done having sex. I feel bad as my partner keeps asking me but i just dont want to. Any advice on what i can do? Any other asexual moms out there? I guess this could be confusing but im not huge on being bound by a label. I have just always felt it represented me best since highschool.
