Does anyone have any experience with giving birth at Moon Tower Midwifery in Austin?
It’s a hospital-based midwifery practice, and I’m really interested in learning more about it. I know it’s been around for about a year, but it seems a bit tricky to get information since they don’t schedule appointments unless you’ve already transferred care.
If anyone has delivered there or looked into it, I’d love to hear about your experience, how the process works, and what you thought of the care. Any insights or advice would be super helpful!

My neighbor delivered there and loved it & would use them again. I saw in various Austin mom groups others highly recommended as well.

She said they are very popular because they are good and book up quickly.

I was transferred to them from my first midwife when giving birth to my son in April last year. Everyone was very nice and they listened to all my concerns. When I gave birth in the hospital there was only the midwife and like two nurses in the room with my husband. When I was there they had 3 midwives and I met with each of them at least once because you weren’t sure who would be delivering your baby. Postpartum I went to 3 appointments in six weeks to check on me and baby. Some of them were an optional phone call if you didn’t want to go in. Baby was welcome to all appointments after birth and my two year old came with me to most of my appointments before. I think they require that you take a birthing class and an information session at the hospital. They took our insurance too which was cool.

I had a great experience with them! There are 4-5 different midwife’s and you see all of them since you don’t know who will be on call when you go into labor. I loved all of them except one and she was the one on call when I went into labor. Halfway through my labor the on call shift changed and a different midwife actually delivered my baby and she was wonderful!! I don’t want to share their names on here but if you message me I’d be happy to tell you more!

Thank you all so much for sharing your experiences! I was also wondering — did anyone end up using any medications, such as an epidural or Pitocin, during labor?

if you need pitocin or request an epidural during labor you have to move to the normal hospital labor rooms for monitoring. I’m pretty sure the most you can do for medical pain management is the gas. Midwives are allowed to give shots of Pitocin after labor to help with bleeding.
