This whole thing with kids taking their dad’s surname is traditional and means that fathers were the owners of their kids
I personally was given my own surname. I didn’t get my mother’s or father’s surname

Myself and my kids have my husbands last name

Neither one of his changes our name when we got married, so we decided to give our kids both of our names, no hyphen.

Dad chose a new family name. We will be changing our last names to match.

My kids have both my last name and his last name. No hyphen. We’re married but I didn’t take his name.

My son has my last name and my daughter has her dad's last name. I don't recommend! I should have given them both my name

I never thought about not giving my daughter her dads last name tbh, I always hated my last name anyway 🤷🏻♀️

In my husbands culture you woman never take their husbands surname. It never changes. So mine is my maiden name. His surname is frankly hard to pronounce in the UK and gets misspelled all the time. So we picked our favourite of his middle names and gave that to our kids. Eventually we plan to change ours to match theirs.

I changed to my husband’s name when we got married so we all have the same name. I didn’t feel particular attachment to my own name so I didn’t mind changing it but it was important to me that we as a family all had the same name x

I wasn't sure if I wanted his last name when we got married in 2019
Now I'm still not sure if I do, so I still have my unmarried name
Kiddo has Dad's last name

We double barrelled

They have both our surnames, that’s interesting about a brand new surname, does it have any connection to your parents surnames or a totally new random one?

She got my last name. We werent married and broke up during pregnancy so i chose to give her mine

My three kids have both our last names. I didn’t take my husbands.
