Yesterday got the ultrasound results and baby's estimated weight is around 9 pounds. I know ultrasounds aren't always accurate, and the doctor said the actual weight could be more or less. I'm thinking about my options for delivery since I'm 39 weeks and everything looks good. I want a natural birth, but I'm having second thoughts about scheduling the C-section tomorrow. Does it make sense to wait a bit longer?

If baby looks big and they want to do a cesarean, they’re not gonna want to wait longer since the longer baby stays, the bigger they’ll get (slightly).
The decision is up to you really. You can birth a “big baby” vaginally beautifully but it all depends on how you labor and how you push (off your back, correct position and technique during labor AND during pushing).
And as they told you, the scan can be off by 2lbs either way. So I would go with your gut based on evidence based information

Ultrasound weights can be super inaccurate, and women can birth big babies (Anecdote- my dad was 11 lbs and my grandma birthed him vaginally, no tears!). The night of my induction the ultrasound weight for my son was estimated at 7lbs even....he was born 28 hours later at 8 lbs 9 oz.
All that said, you should choose the birth that feels best to you. There is nothing wrong with either choice.

If you're wanting a natural birth i wouldn't rush into a csection because they're measuring big on an ultrasound they're super inaccurate and its only an estimate. My daughter measured above average and came out around 30th percentile for height and weight

My baby was supposed to be in the 32nd centile according to scans, she turned out to be 83rd centile weighing 8.15lb
So glad I scheduled a section, should've done it sooner but thought I was having a smaller baby
I was 40 w 3 days and lost 1.9L of blood because my womb wouldnt contract because ir had stretched too much.
Scans are not super accurate, but you can tell in how big your bump is and how she feels inside you if you think its accurate or not
Im glad I scheduled mine honestly, I couldnt have birthed an 8.15lb baby

During my scans and bump measurements my baby was on the 50th centile and I wasn’t ever told I was having a big baby but I had a natural birth (V-BAC as I had c section with my first) and he was 8lbs11.5 and I birthed him fine with no issues apart from a 2nd degree tear which healed absolutely fine x

If I were you I would schedule a c section a week from now. That’s what I did. And then my water naturally broke before the date and I was able to pack, shower, get ready then head to the hospital when everyone there knew I was already booked for a c section. I checked in, they prepped my husband and I and we were in the surgery room in no time.

Mine was estimated to be 98th percentile big from the scans … predicted birthweight of over 4kg . He came out at 3.3kg. Which was closer to 50th percentile. It’s not just anecdotal, the medical papers say diagnosis of very big babies on scans has a REALLY high false positive rate - 36% are incorrect according to a paper published in Feb this year.
Make the decision that’s right for you.
I had a C-section in the end for unrelated rather serious reasons and while the operation was text book, looking after a new baby after major surgery and being unable to carry anything or sit up without help wasn’t easy. He also had neck and shoulder issues which cause latching problems, as he didn’t go through the birth canal squishing process, which took a while to sort out.

My baby was supposed to be 92nd percentile and I gave birth to 8lb 2 ounce boy. The weight could be wrong

I attempted to birth vaginally my 9+ lbs baby but he flipped at some point during my 26 hour labour, so it ended in a section anyways. But 10lbs was always the cut off for c-section for us. If he was going to be more than 10, then I would’ve done the section right away. And to be honest, now that I’ve had a section, I’ll probably opt for one if baby is measuring big again. I want to birth vaginally my next child, but not if he’s going to be big haha. The section was so quick and painless. I had no issues. Just sorta worried about keeping up with a toddler after now. I didn’t have a 2 year old the first time haha.

they told me my son was gonna be 9 pounds but he cane out 7.8 lbs. they made me get a c section too

No advice but they always had my baby's weight wrong with 3 and 4.
I was small with my last 2 pregnancies but baby 3 was 9lbs 3oz and they thought he was way smaller.

My ultrasound for my first wasn’t accurate. She was measuring 9lbs like 2 weeks before my due date. I was told early on I would most likely deliver by c sec because of my small frame. At the rate she was going she would have been 10lbs but she ended up being 8lbs 8oz at 40+3.

My son was 9ib I went for a c-section but I can’t deliver naturally

Just saying I had an ultrasound during labor and they said my son was 10+ pounds, he was born a few hours later 8 pounds 9 ounces. I know a lot of doctors prefer c sections bc they're "easy" and "quicker" but if you truly feel everything is fine I think it's best to wait. Always go with your gut feeling ❤️

I just wanted to chime in and say my ultrasound was bang on correct, literally to the oz.
