Iv been scheduled my elective c section for 40 weeks and I’m worried! I know it’s normal they do them from 39-40 weeks BUT I’m just so scared of going into Labour naturally! I had an elective with my first at 39 weeks so if I did go into Labour I wouldn’t really know what to watch out for? I know they would do it as an emergancy if I did but I don’t want it to be rushed or unplanned in anyway. Has anyone else had or been planned in for an elective on their due date or later than 40 weeks? Was it all ok? Or was you able to change it? I’ll be having it at the countess of Chester x

I had an elective on my due date! I was the opposite and hoping she would come spontaneously before hand because I had to have either induction or C-section and I didn’t really want either! She didn’t budge at all, I was 2/3cm dilated on the day of my C-section (I’d been getting sweeps for 2 weeks prior to my section to try and bring on labour) but had no symptoms of labour whatsoever and all went really well with the C-section. Good luck! Xx

My elective was 40+2 weeks and I was but angry at that because baby was in 99th percentile and I was in pain and dealing with anemia

My waters broke at 2:30am on the day of my elective. They said I was fine to wait until going down at 9am as I hadn’t had any contractions etc but she explained that if I had it was just be written down as an emergency but it would go ahead as an elective would if that makes sense? If there’s no urgent issues or risks it’s all still calm and collected etc even if you’re in labour x

I had a cat2 emergency section, the on call doctor came in to do it, honestly nothing felt rushed to me, the c-section team was great even reassuring so even if it could happen the teams can be remarkable

Even though I am 37+3, they still haven’t given me a date. Since I had a laparoscopic myomectomy last year, at my 24th week they changed my midwife appointment to a doctor’s appointment and asked what kind of delivery the doctor who performed my surgery had recommended. When I said cesarean, the doctor here said, ‘We also recommend the same,’ and it was decided that I would have a cesarean.
My next doctor’s appointment was today — at 37+3. Yet they still didn’t give me a date. They even almost tried to steer me toward a normal birth. This was never my preference from the very beginning, and it was so ridiculous that they were still asking me this at this stage!
As for the cesarean date, they said the hospital would call me one week in advance. A few hours later I received a message saying they would tell me my date about two weeks before the operation, but under normal circumstances I should already be giving birth in two weeks — meaning in my 39th week.

I really don’t understand what they are trying to do. This is stressing me out. My blood pressure has already started to rise, and this uncertainty is truly frustrating.
I’ve known for months that I would be having a cesarean, so I really don’t understand why the doctor said at the 37-week appointment that she was only now entering it into the system!!

My elective was booked for my due date, I went in to labour the day before, and like you don’t prepare myself for natural labour at all! I ended up having my section few hours before planned. And they kept me in luckily. My waters broke and I was dilating quickly, I did end up having an emergency section in the end. My advice would be to prepare yourself if you do go in to labour techniques to help you,and go in if you have any signs. You got this ❤️

I've been scheduled for mine at 39+6 x
